1 Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14 “Divine Wisdom”
1. The Solomon Journey
• Solomon’s journey as King begins with the death of His Father David David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. 11 He had reigned forty years over Israel—
• Vs 3 Tells us Solomon had a great love3 Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David,
• Solomon has a dream. 5 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
• Solomon has a great need 7 “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
• Solomon received Divine Wisdom: God said to him, “Since you have asked for a discerning heart not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor for the death of your enemies but for discernment in justice, 12 So, I will give you a wise and discerning heart, 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—
2. The Solomon Journey was a desire for what I call Divine Wisdom
• Divine Wisdom according to Solomon is more important than wealth, riches, or fame, Solomon sought Divine type wisdom
• Divine wisdom might be considered what Jesus called the narrow way, Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate that leads to destruction many enter There in, but narrow is the gate that leads to life and only a few enter There in
• .”The narrow way is the straightway, the Living God way, the Church way, The Bible Way. The Holiness way. It’s the Old way, The way of the Cross deny thy self and take up thy cross and follow me.
3. Divine Wisdom is taking a road that is less traveled There is a road before each
• God told Jeremiah16 The LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
• Many would have taken wealth, prestige, but not wisdom
• Solomon chose like “Joshua as for me and my house.” Solomon says in Proverbs: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” or wisdom (Proverbs 1:7).
4. Divine Wisdom is having an intimate relationship with God
• 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”
• Divine Wisdom speaks to our soul. Wisdom says, “I am wisdom, I hate pride and bragging, evil ways and lies. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. What I give is better than the finest gold I follow the path of justice. I give wealth to those who love me, filling their houses with treasures. Proverbs 8:12-21
• Divine Wisdom Builds on The Rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
• Divine Wisdom Confesses their sins and proclaims “Jesus is Lord,”
• Divine Wisdom Heeds the Call 17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
• Divine Wisdom says, Come to Jesus come unto me all ye that are heavy laden come unto me and I will give you rest for your soul
