GOD’s Promises to those who overcome:
Life can be a struggle, but deep seated is the fact that its not the physical things that wrestle with, it is the spiritual. JESUS overcame the things of the world, both physical and spiritual. It is by our faith in CHRIST who overcame, that we can also overcome. And GOD has made promises to those who do through faith in CHRIST.
OVERCOME - To Stand the challenges, tests, trials and tribulations of this life.
Ephesians 6:12-13 (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
CHRIST HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD
Note: JESUS says, “in ME…” We have peace through tribulation and can rejoice in sorrows because JESUS has overcome these things for us to share the victory.
John 16:33 (KJV)
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
IN THE POWER OF CHRIST OVERCOMING, WE OVERCOME.
GREATER IS CHRIST, than the demonic forces in this world.
1 John 4:4 (KJV)
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
OBEDIENCE AND VICTORY BY FAITH
1 John 5:1-5
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Note: GOD’S WITNESS THE HOLY SPIRIT. IT is the HOLY SPIRIT that gives us witness.
1 John 5:6-13
6 This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
VICTORY TO OVERCOME THE WORLD IS THROUGH OUR FAITH – THOSE BORN OF GOD OVERCOME
FAITH is the VICTORY!
1 John 5:4-5 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
PROMISE – TREE OF LIFE
Note: Garden of Eden, 1-tree of knowledge of good and evil, 2-tree of life. After sin, GOD made tree of life inaccessible so that man wouldn't live an eternity in sin. As a believer in CHRIST, this tree of life awaits us when we are presented faultless, sinless, covered by the blood of CHRIST before the FATHER. It is appointed once to die, and then the judgment, at which time, CHRIST confesses us before the FATHER. See note for Revelation 3:5 below*.
Revelation 2:7 (KJV)
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
PROMISE – CROWN OF LIFE
Note: The Crown of Life to those who endure. You must endure to overcome.
James 1:12 (KJV) 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
PROMISE – FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH RECEIVE A CROWN OF LIFE. OVERCOME AND NO 2ND DEATH
Note: Crown of Life Everlasting. 2nd Death is for the devil and demons, and anyone who rejects GOD’s gift of Salvation
Revelation 2:10-11 (KJV)
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
PROMISE – PILLAR IN THE TEMPLE, WRITTEN, SIGNED AND SEALED WITH GOD’S NAME
Note: A Pillar represents strength and structure to the temple. Overcomers are pillars of GOD’s house.
SEALED. We sign a contract with the seal of our signature to make that contract binding. GOD Seals us with HIS NAME and give us a New Name, just as a father (parent) names the child.
Revelation 3:11-12 (KJV)
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
PROMISE – HIDDEN MANNA, A NEW NAME WRITTEN IN STONE
Note: Hidden Manna revealed - At the Passover Seder, the middle of the 3 matzahs is broken in half and wrapped into a cloth and hidden. This is called the Afikomen. This ‘hidden’ half of the middle matzah and is presented as the dessert after the Passover Meal. With New Testament understanding, CHRIST presented this as HIS Body at the Last Supper. JESUS said HE was the Manna that came down from Heaven. During the Seder, it is customary to take that half piece of the middle matzah, wrap it in a cloth, and hide it. After the Passover Meal, the children of the home seek out this hidden package and when they find it, they present it to their father for a reward! This Matzah-Afikomen is the last thing to be eaten in the Seder, it’s the dessert.
Revelation 2:17 (KJV)
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
PROMISE – CLOTHED IN WHITE, NAME PERMANENT IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, ATTESTED BY NAME TO GOD
Note: Though our sins are as scarlet and will be made white as snow. Clothed in White represents the believer presented as sinless.
*Note: JESUS, our mediator, Savior, Redeemer, confesses us before the FATHER and HIS Angels.
Revelation 3:5 (KJV)
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
PROMISE – OVERCOME AND KEEP THE WORKS OF GOD, POWER OVER THE NATIONS (PEOPLE)
Note: Kings and Priests rule the people. We are called a peculiar people and given that authority through CHRIST.
Revelation 2:26 (KJV)
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
PROMISE – INHERITANCE AS THE CHILD OF GOD
Revelation 21:6-7 (KJV)
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
1 Peter 1:3-5 (KJV)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
PRAYER
FATHER YOUR promises are faithful and true. CHRIST has overcome the world so that we too may overcome. In this life we will experience many trials and tribulations, but we can find peace in those times because of CHRIST. We look to the promises YOU have for us who follow after CHRIST and overcome this world by our faith in the finished work of the CROSS. To CHRIST’S sacrifice, the blood atonement, the release of HIS SPIRIT so that we might receive, to HIS resurrection to life and ascension to HIS rightful place. To this path, We say yes and amen LORD JESUS. Even so, come quickly, Amen.
BENEDICTION Jude 1:24-25 (KJV) 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
