Trust and faith
If you desire to serve YAHWEH and as you engage in the service, trust HIM. Trust the promises given to you in HIS Word. If you want to please YAHWEH, then you must have faith. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please YAHWEH.
What is the difference between faith and trust you may ask? This is illustrated in the following story: Imagine that a world renowned tight rope walker told you that he could walk across a tight rope stretched across two tall buildings without safety mechanisms save for his staff. Off course, you believe him, he can, that’s faith. If he tells you, to get in the wheel barrow and he will push you across the rope and you agree that’s trust.
As YAHWEH’s children not only must we believe YAHWEH exists, we must trust HIM and have faith in HIM even in the direst circumstances.
Willingness
Incidentally when YAHWEH calls us He does call us to serve HIM in what humans would call impossible situations. With YAHWEH, all things are possible. HE can do anything as HE owns everything and everyone, seen or unseen. All he needs is a willing person, a person who will obey the instructions as clearly as they understand them. A person who will trust and put his faith in HIM.
Patience
Someone once said that YAHWEH is not in a hurry. As the saying goes ‘hurry hurry has no blessing.’ As one interacts with YAHWEH, patience is necessary. A fruit of the HOLY SPIRIT and like all fruit, patience is cultivated. YAHWEH uses these times to work within us to bring forth the desired changes within us that are instrumental at bringing the desired result of the service.
It is amazing that one will spend over 20 years to get a doctorate degree yet expect YAHWEH to answer him instantly and get him into successful service. Even lower levels of academics require at least two years of preparation. YAHWEH’s time is the best and requires patience on our part. Moses took 80 years before his service to YAHWEH started. David waited till he was forty to become the king of all Israel. The world waited 400 years between Malachi and the birth of our SAVIOR. YAHWEH does not live within time and is not constrained by time. Sarah defied all known logic and brought forth at ninety and lived to see her son to manhood. Although it’s easier said than done, be patient.
Self control
In service to YAHWEH, one must develop self control or restraint. One cannot live the way they desire and expect to serve YAHWEH effectively. Many examples abound of men and women who failed to live within the boundaries set by the HOLY SPIRIT with disastrous results. Samson, a man anointed to deliver his people, sacrificed his service at the altar of sexual pleasure. Yet, it is evident that YAHWEH wanted to use him to liberate Israel forever from the Philistines a task that was handed to David years later. Joseph on the other hand chose to live at all costs within the boundaries YAHWEH had set and saved the whole known world from starvation.
Self control is also a fruit of the HOLY SPIRIT and this fruit needs to be cultivated. Many regimes if not all are brought down by lack of restraint on the path of the rulers, leaders and society.
