Summary: The Lord's prayer is much more than a prayer. It is tells us about who God is.

TEXT: Matthew 6:10

"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."

INTRODUCTION

The Lord's prayer is more than a prayer guide. It tells us who God is. It shows us that God is our father. He lives in heaven and his presence fills the universe. His name - Yahweh, is holy. He has a Kingdom with his throne in heaven and the earth, his footstool. He is the King of kings and kingdoms. Today, we shall look at, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The will of God will be done in your life in Jesus name.

GOD'S WILL PREVAILS IN HEAVEN

God's will prevails in heaven. Here on earth, we can choose between following God's will or rejecting it. Man was created with choice and God will not impose his will on any man. But God desires that his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's will is his plan and purpose for every of his creation. It is his desire for mankind. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jer 29:11). Jesus said: "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:38,40). The plan of God for your life will not be truncated in Jesus name.

GOD DESIRES HIS WILL TO PREVAIL ON EARTH

One of the greatest desire of God for mankind is salvation. He gave his son as a ransom to die for the sin of mankind and created a path for humans to be reconciled to him. He gave mankind his word to guide us to do his will. The Bible contains the will of God for mankind. Jesus lived a sinless life and submitted to God's will while on earth (Matt 26:39). "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12). Anyone that receives Jesus as Lord and Saviour is given the power of the Holy Ghost to become sons and daughters of God and the capacity to do the will of God. So, it is God's desire or will for all mankind to be saved and do his will. (2 Peter 3:9).

GOD WANTS HIS CHILDREN TO LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS WILL

David, a man after God's heart declared, "I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart" (Psalms 40:8). This is what God expects from all his children. By living according to God's will and teaching and preaching the gospel to others with signs following, more and more people will be converted and the will of God will be done more and more on earth. Deut 10:12 says: “And now, Israel, what does the lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul." Although, Satan and the flesh works against the accomplishment of God's will on earth, ultimately; when Christ returns back to the earth, the will of God will prevail. By then, Satan and the ungodly would have been judged and thrown into the lake of fire for all eternity. God will grant you grace to do his will in Jesus name.

Father, let your will prevail in my life and on the earth in Jesus name.

For me and my house, we shall do God's will.
