Praying with Jesus
For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory.

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV
"This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
This doxology was not found in earlier manuscripts but was most likely added later during the second century. Many people believe it came from David’s prayer in 1 Chronicles.
1 Chronicles 29:10-11 NIV
“David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, "Praise be to you, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. 11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.”
Matthew 6:13 The Message Bible
You're in charge! You can do anything you want! You're ablaze in beauty!
1. You’re in charge!
Prayer reminds us God’s in charge, not us.
We must surrender control.
The disciples also wondered why Jesus was not cooperating with their plan!
Acts 1:6-8 NIV
“So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
We want Him to establish the Kingdom for us, but God wants to spread His kingdom through us.
You’re in charge and I’m here to cooperate.
2. You can do anything you want!
God is omnipotent, which means God has the right to act and the ability to act.
The revelation of His absolute power changes everything for us when we pray!
3. You’re ablaze in beauty!
Luke 21:25-28 NIV
"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
The return of Christ isn’t a rescue mission; it’s a coronation ceremony of our King!
This isn’t about an evacuation of earth, but an invasion of heaven.
The Bible begins with a story of a new creation and ends with a story of the new creation restored.
The sin-ruined creation of Genesis is restored in the sacrifice-renewed creation of Revelation.
His victory will be complete, and our redemption will be final!
