Three Truths to Enjoying God’s Grace
The Bible says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8) Our Lord wants us to be assured we will enjoy His anointing and enablement in our task when our Spiritual gifts are exercised through sacrificial love. Three blessings are a sure to be enjoyed while embracing God’s grace.
One: God is blessed and honored. Jesus said, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) The Complete Word Study written by Spiros Zodiates tells us the Greek word for “good works” (??a??? agathós) refers to ministry helps which are benevolent, profitable and useful. Referring to the character of the person who is exercising the ministry of helps it pertains to someone who is distinguished, upright, honorable, one who strives for quality in their service to Jesus, the Body of Christ and to all of mankind.
Two: The true church of Christ, the disciples of Jesus will be one unit working together. “For God is not a God of disorder – but of peace – as in all the congregation of the Lord’s people.” (1 Corinthians 14:33) In 1 Corinthians 12:12 the Apostle Paul compares the Lord’s church to the human body. Although the human body has many parts it is one unit – each part needing and complementing each other. Just as the human body functions most effectively when each part does what it was created for, the body of Christ will function effectively when each member exercises their Spiritual gifts to please the Lord, for the good of one another and all mankind.
Three: People without Christ will be given the opportunity to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. Romans 10:14-16 says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” This has very little to do with Christians worshiping in a building, but Christians obeying their charge to “preach the Word.” In both 2 Timothy 4:2 and Romans 10:14 the same Greek Word for “preaching” and “preach” (????ss? kerússo) means “to herald or proclaim or publish publicly religious truth, the gospel with its attendant privileges and obligations in this gospel dispensation.” (Zodhiates, S. When the Word of God is proclaimed publicly, speaking or published, people who live in the world will be given the opportunity to make a choice of living for Jesus Christ or themselves.
