John 12:20-33 “He will draw”
1. Is John readings about what hour (Time, Period, age, era ) it is
• Jesus now proclaims that "the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified" (v. 23).
• Jesus describes how a grain of wheat must first die in the earth before bearing fruit, it appears that the message is actually a call to discipleship. Jesus implies there must be a new crop of disciples who can proclaim him as the glorified one.
2. Are Johns words about discipleship
• When the disciple dies then that disciple he says, “But If it dies bears much fruit” To "bear fruit" is, first, Jesus' own mission, but it becomes the mission of each new disciple as well.
• Those who love the following Me part will lose their life in order to find it
• Those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
• Those who serve Jesus must also follow Jesus
3. Greeks are seeking Jesus they wish to see Jesus Fishing Lure
• They all want to see Jesus he’s like a magnet those things you stick on refrigerator,
• He like an upbeat song that you just nod head tap foot dance it draws you in.
• Have you ever watch one those magnets that picks up cars or metal.
4. Jesus attracts folks like us The Greek s seek Jesus, The Heart of this Gospel is about His hour, The heart of Johns Gospel is about being His disciple and what that involves and finally Jesus Attracts folk in many ways.
• “I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” On one hand, people resist but he also attracts people.
• Once the power of his love gets hold of you, there’s no resisting. He just brings you along.
• At his birth, he attracted shepherds to a Bethlehem hillside, and wise men from afar.
• In the temple when he was 12 years old, the wise and the learned gathered round to hear his teaching.
• He called fishermen Drop your nets come follow me” immediately they left their nets
• Even tax collectors abandoned their account books and also become disciples.
• A wise Pharisee, Nicodemus, came to him by night, to learn how to be “born from above.”
• Women were attracted not because of His beauty but because of His Humility and His divine ability one women said, “If I could but touch the hem of his garment”.
• Even the Roman governor, Pilate, felt the pull of his appeal “I find no fault in him
• Even at Calvary another soldier was touched so that he said, “surely this was the Son of God”
• Today. Have you felt the pull of his love in your life, calling you out of ungodly habits?
• Have you experienced the allure that comes from hearing the old old story, of Jesus and His love
• Have you felt that there is something tugging at my heart reaching deep into my soul to grasp that saving story of Jesus death that give me salvation
• You and I can respond to that divine disturbance with hostility and rejection, or we can welcome the Lord as liberator and life-giver. Either way, it's up to us to answer the call.
• So, walk with the Lord in these final days of Lent. Walk with him not only as he enters the city, Lets walk with Him in dark Gethsemane. Let our spirits be drawn to His arrest, Himself being condemned, crucified and let our spirit be drawn to the Easter story risen from the grave!
