No escape from God
1 Kings 19:17 "It shall come about, the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.”
God is in no hurry, He does things meticulously, perfectly, dexterously and in His time. He appoints people with specific jobs and also equips them with power to fulfill their assignments. I write this devotion in order to instill fear of God in people so that they live holy lives on earth and also understand sins have consequences, if they repent they get mercy if not death. 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” Are you listening? Twice Elijah complained to God ‘"I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel ….killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." The Lord answered Elijah by asking him to return to Damascus and then he gave him 3 important tasks to finish: the anointing of gentile king Hazael, Jehu and Elisha. The three were assigned to punish the wicked, when the earthly Government has a court of law where the wicked are punished and executed if needed, why would the court of law in heaven not do the same? Read: Psalm 149:9 “To execute on them the judgment written; This is an honor for all His godly ones. Praise the LORD!”
Jehu was given the assignment to wipe out Ahab’s family completely for killing Naboth and grabbing his vineyard. 1 King 21: 15)” Jezebel and Ahab seem to be in cloud 9 and in party mood, after having successfully eliminating Naboth the owner of vineyard and possessing it, God is watching everything, though. A time is assigned in heaven for the execution of the punishment, none can escape.
• The 70 sons of Ahab were killed with their heads chopped” 2 Kings 10:7: When the letter came to them, they took the king's sons and slaughtered them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him at Jezreel.”
• All the acquaintances of Ahab were wiped out: 2 King 10:11”So Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men and his acquaintances and his priests, until he left him without a survivor.” (1 King 21:21 He says, 'I am going to bring disaster on you. I will wipe out your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel--slave or free.) –the Lord’s words were fulfilled. None can escape!
• Son (Joram) and son-in-law (Ahaziah) of Ahab were killed in one shot by Jehu at the very plot were Naboth was killed (God has a perfect record!)2 King 9:21
• Relatives of Ahaziah were killed
NO ONE CAN ESCAPE GOD: Kings 9:28” Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,' says the LORD, 'and I will repay you in this property,' says the LORD. Now then, take and cast him into the property, according to the word of the LORD."
If the wicked repent wholeheartedly they may get a chance from God but if not each one would be punished for their wrongdoings. Caveat!
The family of Ahab were wiped out because of their idol worship, leading the nation in idol worship, most important was also the way Jezebel strategically killed Naboth – she did everything using the name of the Lord. Let me explain:
When Ahab coveted the vineyard of Naboth, she took control of the situation and planned it astutely , read:
1 King 21:7 Jezebel his wife said to him, "Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite."
8 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal, and sent letters to the elders and to the nobles who were living with Naboth in his city.
9 Now she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people;
10 and seat two worthless men before him, and let them testify against him, saying, 'You cursed God and the king.' Then take him out and stone him to death,
The elders were asked to proclaim a fast and do the atrocious task of recruiting two rowdies to stone him to death by accusing Naboth of cursing God, which were all lies just to corner Naboth and kill him according to the law in the name of God. The elders of Israel who were supposed to be loyal and faithful to God, were loyal and faithful to the devil and thereby executed the assignment meticulously and sent a ‘sms’ to Jezebel saying “job done’. Shameless elders! (By the way the devil has wonderful volunteers to execute his job perfectly whereas church members do not lift their little finger for God or the pastor!
Today we have worse elders in the church who mishandle the offerings of the branch church, there are elders who connive with the believers against the church authorities, there are senior believers who speak ill of the pastor and his family, in one particular case the assistant of the pastor helped the pastor to keep his girlfriend who was the translator inside a room in the church. The wife of the assistant got demon possessed and he strictly warned the family not to contact me, but they informed me. When I suddenly visited the family who were in deep distress, when the assistant was not at home, I found the wife terribly demon possessed and she was trying to commit suicide. I took her and her child to our home and when we were praying for her deliverance all the story of the pastor and the girlfriend came to light. The pastor had also gifted her gold ornaments. This pastor preaches every Sunday and also publishes his books while he kept his girlfriend in his inner chamber. No wonder God closed the churches! No one can escape God!
The 4 convicts who gang raped Nirbhaya on December 12, 2012 were finally hanged on March 20,2020, after 7years, though they tried to delay the execution, the four convicts had filed multiple petitions, managing to stall their execution thrice at the eleventh hour. Out of the 6 who raped her, 4 were hanged, one committed suicide; however, the juvenile involved in the crime was released after 3 years in prison, citing he was a minor at the time of crime; nevertheless, he can never ESCAPE from God.
David said: Psalm 139:7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Acts 17: 30”…He now commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
Hebrews 9:27 :And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
Romans 14:12 :So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
THE WICKED WILL FALL FROM FRYING PAN TO FIRE: The Lord said: Joel 1:4”What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten; And what the swarming locust has left, the creeping locust has eaten; And what the creeping locust has left, the stripping locust has eaten.”
I happened to meditate about the locusts mentioned in the Bible recently and I just wondered how an insect that is just three inches long, weighting two grams can harm a nation! Oh, these fellows are not loners but they come swarming in numerous numbers; they ravish the green plants, fruits, vegetables and they can eat about two grams of food (equal to their total weight) on a single day. Ravenous insects I should say!
In the first chapter of the book of Joel in the Bible, we read how the great army of locusts was sent against the people because they disobeyed God. How could a Christian ever think that he would cheat, steal, lie, lust, and still feel he would not be punished? A three inch insect called Locust is enough to destroy our life when we do not have the covering of God’s Hands over our life! Caveat!
Sennacherib king of Assyria:
2 Kings 19:34 'For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David's sake.'"
35 Then it happened that night that the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home, and lived at Nineveh.”
When I read Sennacherib returned home while 1,85,000 of his army were struck dead by an angel, I asked the Lord why this fellow Sennacherib was not killed that night, because he was the reason for the entire blasphemy of God. Just watch the story, this fellow mocked God and His power so he was not going to be let go off anyway, he was punished in such a way so that his own people and the world will know that the Lord reigns. Sennacherib was killed by his own two sons in the temple of his god while he was worshiping. Phew! No escape from the Messiah! 2 King 19:37“It came about as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer killed him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son became king in his place.”
That was indication to the world that the Lord reigns and idols cannot save!
CONCLUSION:
The consequences of sins must be preached to the people, even though it may not be a popular sermon and they would stone you for preaching such messages; nevertheless, it has to be done.
Jeremiah 11:0” Then the LORD said to me, "A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10 "They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers."
11 Therefore thus says the LORD, "Behold I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry to Me, yet I will not listen to them.
12 "Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they surely will not save them in the time of their disaster.
