Heb 12:2 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
When one focus, you are blinded to other things and you fix your attention on just one thing. By so doing we learn to study a lot by fixing on something daily, we tend to see it even when we close our eyes. This scripture gives us a great lesson that we have to study Jesus life. This will allow us not to compete or compare ourselves with others.
Someone once told me that, “true faith is keeping your focus on God even when the world around you is falling apart.” This helps us to overcome day to day challenges that we face I this tough times, remember when we focus our thoughts on Jesus, He will fix our thoughts.
God created our minds in a complex way, the mind cannot instantly switch focus from one thing to another. According to study the mind needs to load the context of what you want to do first to the working memory so that one can handle the task effectively.
So if one keeps losing focus a lot of time and energy is lost no wonder why God hate the double minded people James 1:8 He is a double-minded person, unstable in all his ways
Why will He hate such a person, well nothing will be done by that person. Our good example that we must focus on is Jesus seeing the joy and the glory set before Him he endured the cross. Knowing that it will end well gives one hope that even I pass through pain my joy is coming at the end. Indeed, Weeping might endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning Knowing that our life journey is filled with many challenges but we know that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the lord will deliver us from all. A double minded person changes their confession when challenges arises. Focus is like a muscle we need to train it daily, Jesus passed through shame but He was focused on the glory that was to come.
The bible says 1 Corinthians 10:13
(New International Version) 13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
As long as you are focused whatever temptation or challenge that comes your way God will provide a way out so that you can endure it. Never worry about what you are passing through now keep on focusing on Jesus. Joseph said to his brothers
Genesis 50:20
(King James Version) But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive
Joseph did not dwell on why his brothers hated him he did not dwell on why he was placed in a pit, he did not even focus on the false accusations and the temptation from Portipher`s wife, he maintained his focus
How can one focus on God?.
1. Remove all distractions, eg your phone, friends, television etc
2. Try to master one thing at a time
3. Ask yourself a question,” do I really love the end results?” if its yes
4. Endure the process
5. Plan on what you want to achieve and work on it.
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, meaning observing or focusing our attention on how He did it
