Gentle whisper
1 King 19:12” After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
As the Lord passed by, a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD but He was not in the wind. Listen to this, if you do not have the grit and determination to withstand the great, strong wind and still wait to hear God, then you would never get to have the breathtaking experience of hearing the Messiah speak. Next came the earthquake then came the fire, but the Lord was not in any of them…following all this came the gentle whisper: "What are you doing here, Elijah?" Wow, you can go through anything to hear this voice!
After the enemy tries to sabotage you and your work through threats and attacks, do not get intimidated, the more he roars, God will reach out to you and encourage you more and more. While Elijah sat in the cave discouraged, scared, confused with a feeling of loneliness, you know what God does? He told him, “"Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived…” God further gave him a mighty task of anointing three people, one of them was Elisha. Whoa! You get to have divine encounters! Stay firm in the midst of the strong wind, earthquake or fire…..eventually God will get to you! Don’t run away, stay faithful and endure sufferings in the name of Jesus!
On a particular day when I went to open Abide School (the free school that we run for the poor) I found a ‘bank notice’ pasted in front of the gate, when I went close to read the contents, it said, ‘because of failure of paying the housing loan dues, the bank has issued a notice that premises will be sealed.’ Before you come to wrong conclusions, let me clarify that the notice was issued to the owner of the building, we were tenants. Shocked, I tried calling the owner who stayed very far away from our school building, he did not lift the phone, the next day a big group of lawyer and bank officials (around 7 of them) came to our school and said that we need to leave the building right away, because they have authority to seal the building( I refused to give the keys to them). We declared holiday for the school and along with my husband we started praying; however, one particular bank officer kept harassing me on the phone saying, ’leave the building’. The next day around 3 pm in the afternoon, I heard the crystal clear voice of the Lord say, “go and open the building, none can touch you”. Glory to Jesus! The maintenance of the building came into the hands of the daughter of the owner and the problem was solved. Do not be intimidated by the threats of the enemy!
