Looking at the word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit. We find that there is no other name mentioned that has power other than the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus in the mouth of all the prophets, disciples and even in the life of ordinary people brought outstanding results into their lives.
Kingdoms shake and demons tremble - James 2:19. When His name is called upon. Jesus' name can never and will never be compared to any other name. In His name miracles happen and the lives of people are transformed when we believe in His name.
Jesus' name in heaven and on earth and underneath this earth causes a movement that brings results and the name of Jesus is respected anywhere His name is mentioned. Because of the power behind the name of Jesus we are to use His name with respect and always stand in awe of His name.
in the book of Isaiah 9:6 when Jesus was prophesied about it is written:
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His name is called Wonderful
His name is called Counselor
His name is called Mighty God
His name is called Everlasting Father
His name is called Prince of Peace.
And also when the angel appeared to Mary about the conception of Jesus, the angel said in:
Matthew 1: 18 - 25
Christ Born of Mary
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us.
Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
The angel said to Joseph that His name shall be called Jesus, for He will save save His people from their sins.
The prophets said that the virgin shall be with child and bear a Son, and His name shall be called Immanuel which means God with us.
The name of Jesus is above every other name.
When Jesus was here on earth and He was being questioned by the Chief Priests, the Pharisees and the Sadducee's, He gave them some answers about who He was but most importantly He would always talk about His Father - John 12:49. And only on few occasions would He speak about Himself.
Jesus said in John 6: 25 - 59
I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE
And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, Rabbi, when did You come here?
Jesus answered them and said, Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.
Then they said to Him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.
Therefore they said to Him, What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Then Jesus said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always.
And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Rejected by His Own
The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, I have come down from heaven’?
Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.
The Jews therefore quarrelled among themselves, saying, How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?
Then Jesus said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.
These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
Jesus said some things here and that is:
- We are not to labor for food that will perish but for food that endures to everlasting life
- We are to believe in Him that God sent
- We are to believe in His Father who gives us the true bread from heaven
- We are to believe that He is the True Bread from heaven, and he who comes to Him will not hunger, and he who believes in Him will not thirst
- We will have everlasting life because we believe in Him
- Jesus is the Bread which came down from heaven
- Jesus is the living Bread which came down from heaven
- As we eat of His bread and drink His blood we have life in us
- As we eat of His flesh and drink His blood we abide in Him and He abides in us.
Jesus said in John 8:12
I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
Jesus is simply saying that He alone is the Light of the world and as we choose to follow Him, we shall not be in darkness and we will have His light in us and also the book of Revelation 21:23 records this "The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light".
Jesus said in John 10: 9 - 16
I AM THE DOOR
I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
Jesus is the only way to the Father and He is the shepherd of the sheep. We are the sheep that He takes care of and wherever we are as His sheep, He will always be there for us as the Good Shepherd that will never leave us nor forsake us - Hebrews 13:5. Jesus is the Door that opens for us every door that needs to be opened in our lives and He is the One that is able to close the doors that we do not need to be opened in our lives - Revelation 3:8.
Trusting in Him will help us to live a life of peace and abundance because of His faithfulness in our lives as the Good Shepherd.
Jesus said in John 10: 11- 18
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.
He is the Good Shepherd that is the real One and Jesus actually came and gave up His life for us to be free from the lies of Satan who had us in His kingdom has recorded in Colossians 1: 13 "For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son",
Every other shepherd would not to be there protect the sheep, like Jesus did. Jesus who is the Good Shepherd knows each of His sheep and will bring other sheep that do not know Him yet into His kingdom and there will one day be one flock and one Good Shepherd.
Jesus said in John 11:17-44
I AM THE RESURRECTION AND LIFE
So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. Now Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.
Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise again.
Martha said to Him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?
She said to Him, Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.
Jesus and Death, the Last Enemy
And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, The Teacher has come and is calling for you. As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, She is going to the tomb to weep there.
Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, Where have you laid him?
They said to Him, Lord, come and see.
Jesus wept.
Then the Jews said, See how He loved him! And some of them said, Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?
Lazarus Raised from the Dead
Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, Take away the stone.
Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.
Jesus said to her, Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me. Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth! And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, Loose him, and let him go.
Jesus rose Lazarus up from the dead and proved to the people that He is the One that does give us life and in believing in Him, He is able to give life to every area of our lives that needs live, it could be in our spiritual, physical or financial life. Jesus is able to do much more than we think or ask for - Ephesians 3:20.
I know that I died and He appeared to me and rose me up from the dead. The doctors had given up on me and I was going to give up when He revealed Himself to me and healed me of a disease called Sickle Cell Disease. He was able to give life to dead bodies that had very dry bones in Ezekiel 37 and the bones became an army.
He is the life giver and coming to Him will continuously give us life. There is no other that can give life to dead bones except in Jesus the Resurrection and the Life.
Jesus said in John 14: 1 - 6
I AM THE WAY , THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.
Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus is saying to believe in God and in Him. And He as gone to prepare a way for us all and that he wants us to be where He is and not be anywhere else. He is the only way back to the Father and He came here on earth to show us the way. In Jesus we have the truth about the kingdom of God and there is no other kingdom that can compare to His kingdom.
These are the I AM's of Jesus and all this names have not lost it's power, the names of Jesus is available to us to use as we believe in Him to be all this names in our lives.
The book of Philippians 2:10 -11
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This is the power of the name of Jesus in our lives and as we call on His name in spirit and in truth, believing and trusting in his name every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord in heaven and in earth, why? God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name that is above all other names.
Remain blessed as we call on the name of Jesus in every situation of life. Amen
