Summary: A message about our purpose in life and how we cannot do it on our own. We can learn from Jesus being in the desert for 40 days.

Good Morning

Stand with me and lift up your bible and repeat after me.

This is my Bible.

I am what it says I am.

I can do what it says I can do.

I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.

Today I will learn more of the word of God.

The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.

I will never be the same.

I will never be the same.

In Jesus Name

I heard something on the radio the other day while I was driving.

“Stop trying to steal the pen. God is not done writing your story.”

Have you ever thought about that..?

Here is a story for you from Godswork.org

This is God. Today, as with every day, I will be handling all your problems.

Please remember that I do not need your help. If the Devil happens to

deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve

it. Kindly put it all in the SFJTD box (Something for Jesus to do).

It will be addressed in MY time. . .not yours. . .please be patient.

It is not that I am busy. I just want the best for you.

Once the matter is placed in the box, do not hold onto it. Do not become

impatient and take it back out to see if you can find a solution. Holding on

or removal will delay the resolution of your problem.

You must surrender the problem to me for proper resolution. If a situation

that you think you can handle arises, please consult me in prayer.

Together we will come up with the proper resolution. If you do not receive

what you anticipate as proper response from Me.

Remember. . .some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.

Because I do not sleep, there is no need for you to lose any sleep.

Rest my Child. . .if you need me, I am but a prayer away.

Have any of you developed the perfect plan for your life, and had it not quite work out?

I have been down that road. I was in the ideal career but I did not know the Lord and instead of continuing in my path, I made a mistake I thought. I went to church and gave my heart to the Lord.

What a great thought.

Boy did things change. Instead of destroying more of my life on my own, the Lord started shaping my life for the better.

God will do that.

He showed up to us through lives of people in the bible.

Turn with me to the Book of Luke, Chapter 4 and say, “Amen” when you are there.

In the New Testament Luke chapter 4 shares the story of Jesus being in the wilderness for 40 days being tempted by the devil.

Verses 1 and 2 “led by the Spirit in wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended. He became hungry.”

Our story in life may not be 40 days in the wilderness but we will be in the wilderness from time to time as we walk along. Our wilderness may be at a cemetery where we have lost a loved one, or in a hospital as we pray for a friend or family members recovery. It may be when we lose a job, or husband or wife has been unfaithful.

Life can be much, much better than that.

Forty is a long time.

Noah faced rain for forty days.

Moses faced the desert for forty days.

Jesus faced temptation for forty days.

Jesus had it a little harder. He hung out with the enemy for one month and 10 days.

They say that 30 days creates a habit. Forty days must solidify that habit.

Personally, I have shared this many times before that I have a habit that is only about 10.

It is 10 minutes listening to the Lord.

Just saying, “Hi” to Him when I awaken and listening.

Some days it is very quiet and it is just peaceful time with the Lord.

Other days it is thoughts of the future that are usually repeats of previous things that I am either persevering through something or trying to understand.

I have been in this habit for over 15 years now. Sometimes I forget but He reminds me that it is time with Him.

If you look back at your story of life so far, there are chapters that you may want to remove from your book.

I have a book written about my life from when I was about 6 until recently and it will probably never be published. There is bad and there is good.

How do you and I keep going?

The wilderness can be like a long and lonely winter.

Or doctor after doctor.

Diaper after diaper.

Resume after resume.

Heartache after heartache.

The calendar gets stuck.

Why did Jesus face the devil for 40 days?

He did so to show us a rerun against the devil that would be victorious.

Adam faced the devil and gave in.

Jesus faced the devil for a long time and did not.

It was kind of like a boxing match where you have been facing a giant man with extra-long arms and you step into the ring with fear again but the God who loves and treasures you, says, “Step into the ring toward our opponent and let us win the fight together.“

The hard part for us is that we try to map everything out and plan every detail to have the greatest life we can.

It does not go that way but we cannot stop having to try and do it all on our own.

Jesus proved to us that we can succeed in our battles. His battle was for forty days and it went with continual temptation from the forbidden angel, the devil.

Christ dared the devil to climb into the ring of the walk He was on because He knew He would win the fight. Basically, He said that the devil would not win regardless of the temptation he threw at Jesus. We do not know what those temptations were, but there must have been many over 40 days.

How do we try and keep stealing the pen?

Here is a couple of ideas;

Trust Him.

Trust His work in your life.

Trust His words.

Trust the promise that He said just before He died. Luke 23:24 says, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

By trying to steal the pen and write more of the story ourselves, it means that we want to do what we think is best without spending quiet time with Him as often as we can. Even if it is for only 10 minutes.

Don’t trust your emotions.

Don’t trust your opinions.

Don’t trust even your friends.

Trust only your best friend and wait on Him before grabbing the pen.

Even the devil tried to give Him doubt.

Matthew 4:3, “If you are the Son of God..........”

I guess the devil thought that Jesus was stupid.

“If”

“If”

Really?

Not to bright.

I believe that the devil also was tested during the forty days and realized that the man they called; ‘Jesus” was really the son of God.

There was not anything the devil could do.

The devil made the mistake of going after the wrong person.

Part of God the father’s master plan.

Amen?

Have you ever met someone who thinks they are just better than everyone?

They need to learn about the result of what the devil has been going through since those 40 days with Jesus.

The ultimate failure.

He could not get the Son of God to join him.

Sometimes we go through our way of life with things that are just great. We have good job which gives us the money to live how we want with up to date clothes, 1,000s of “friends on Facebook”, a new car that we are leasing(renting) and will not own, major credit card debt, relying on restaurants for our food, lack of family time, and other overwhelming things in our life.

But we are missing out on the full extent of life, fellowship with Jesus in all the things we do.

Try something that I do and have been sharing in almost all of the messages that He has given to me to share.

Say,” Good morning Lord” when you awaken.

I mean it.

“Good Morning Lord.”

It may seem silly but it will change your outlook if you make it a habit and you will feel better going through you day.

Do you know why?

Because he is an ever living, everlasting part of your life if you have asked Him into your heart. You may not see Him but you will feel Him in every step you take.

The more you spend time with the Lord in your life, the more enjoyment and strength you will see every day. Life won’t be perfect, but you will be able to sustain the walk He has you on.

Remember what I shared earlier, “Stop trying to steal the pen. God is not done writing your story.”

There is a Cristian music artist named Tauren Wells who wrote a song called “God’s Not Done with You.” It is a reminder to every one of us who has felt that God doesn’t know who we are, that He doesn’t care, that He does in fact know us and He does care.

It’s also a reminder to us that when we are feeling ashamed, and guilty about our past, and feeling like there’s no hope, that it’s during that time when God shows up and explains His plans for us.

And to show us that He isn’t done with us. He has a plan and a purpose for everyone’s life, so we’re never too far gone and we’re never beyond repair.

And we also cannot steal the pen and write out the story of the life God has planned for us. We have to wait on Him.

They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings like eagles.

Amen?

Let's go to the Lord in prayer.
