JUDGES 6:13-16
13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
16 The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
God is seeing you differently in a way that nobody is seeing; in fact He is seeing you differently in a way that you are not seeing yourself. People may be seeing you as a nobody, a never do well, weak and lazy and so on, you might have also accepted the way people are seeing you, by seeing yourself that way. Until you start to see yourself the way God is seeing you that you will manifest the way God wants you to manifest.
When the Midianites were oppressing the Israelites by invading their country, destroying their crops, even their animals were not spared. The Israelites needed help from the Lord so that they can be delivered from the oppression, God decided to use Gideon, but he saw himself as a weak and a nobody. “The Lord is with you mighty warrior" (Judges 6:12). God saw in him what neither him nor anybody saw in him.
His reply confirmed that he did not see himself through God’s eyes. “The Lord turned to him and said “Go in the STRENGTH YOU HAVE and save Israel out of Midian’s hand am I not sending you? But Lord Gideon asked, how can I save Israel? My tribe is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” (Judges 6: 14-15).
He saw himself as a weak and an irrelevant person to solve the problem in Israel, but God saw in him a mighty man with full strength! God encouraged him by assuring him that His presence will be with him.
After God’s word of assurance to Gideon, he started seeing himself as the warrior that God called him. He went to fight and he defeated the Midianites. When God called Moses to go and deliver the Israelites in Egypt, he started giving excuses that he cannot speak very well, he is too small to face Pharaoh, but when God assured Moses that He would be with Him, he got the courage to embark on the journey of delivering God’s people.
We need not to accept how people see us, don’t see yourself that you are nothing or that there are things that you cannot do, because the scripture says we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). Do not limit yourself, don’t write yourself off, the Lord called you a chosen generation and a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD... DO NOT SEE YOURSELF LESS, WALK AND TALK LIKE ROYALITY- NOT LIKE A SLAVE OR A PAUPER. Go to God today and ask Him to help you to see yourself through His eyes so that you can fulfil destiny.
