Psalm 119:1-8 “Our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee."
• David a man after Gods own Heart who God sought ; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people,
• David’s Heart found rest in God He believed God could create in him a clean heart,
• Augustine, the fourth-century theologian. Augustine deeply desired fame and status, but found that these things didn't make him happy.
• Augustine turned to God and said, "Our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee." Nothing in this world will give us the rest and the peace that only God can give. God is the key to a successful and happy heart
1. Every person’s Heart desires to find happiness, peace, and love
• Augustine thought, fame and status might bring him happiness and contentment.
• The Psalmist shares what it is that brings success and a happy life “ its those who “delight” in the law of the Lord and “meditate” upon it day and night (v. 2), “
• The Psalmist shares a Heart that is happy. Blessedness is associated with those whose way is “blameless,” who “walk in the law of the Lord,” “keep his decrees” and “seek him with their whole heart” (v. 1-2).
• The key is keep Gods law, do no wrong, walk in his ways, study, meditate, and obey.
2. A constant obedience of Heart brings completeness, wholeness, and full life.
• Charles Spurgen says, “As David thus begins his psalm, so should young men begin their lives, 1Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.
• Constant Obedience of Heart is a person who Trusts The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

3. A consistent prayer life keeps ones Heart happy or blessed
• The Psalmist prays “O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes” (vv. 4-5).
• The psalmist recognizes right away that keeping God’s law and walking in his ways isn’t something one can simply do under one’s own willpower.
• We all have besetting sins — those bad habits and sins that keep recurring in a seemingly never-ending cycle. Paul hints in Romans we seem to repeat the things we don’t want to do.
4. Our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee."
• We are restless when we think fame and fortunes bring happiness as did Augustine On the other hand, when we think or “ meditate upon the word day and night we find rest in thee.
• We are restless when we do not conform to Gods word On the other hand, when we conform to Gods Word that teaches us holiness is happiness
• We are restless when we do not pray or have no desire or concern for prayer On the other hand, when we pray it seems as though the impossible can become possible because simply put God helps us
• Let us so live our life’s as to say my heart is no longer restless because I have found rest, I have found forgiveness, grace, mercy, peace, hopefulness, blessings, in thee!
• Wesley’s Restless heart found Rest in Thee!
• After going to Georgia all fired up to convert people and especially the native Indians. He is greatly
• rejected in America he return to England very discouraged, so discouraged he said, " I went to
• America to convert the Indians, but, oh, who shall convert me?"
• Shortly, after his arrival back to England, Wesley gives a description of an event that happened.
