• Oh Lord after the order of Samson, let all the ropes binding me, become as flax that have caught fire in Jesus’ name.

• Oh Lord after the order of Samson, let all the bonds shackling my hands melt off by the fire of God in Jesus’ name.

Judges 15:1-19 Amplified

15 But some days later, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson went to visit his wife, taking along a kid [as a token of reconciliation]; and he said, I will go unto my wife in the inner chamber. But her father would not allow him to go in.

2 And her father said, I truly thought you utterly hated her, so I gave her to your companion. Is her younger sister not fairer than she? Take her, I pray you, instead.

3 And Samson said of them, This time shall I be blameless as regards the Philistines, though I do them evil.

4 So Samson went and caught 300 foxes or jackals and took torches and turning the foxes tail to tail, he put a torch between each pair of tails.

5 And when he had set the torches ablaze, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and he burned up the shocks and the standing grain, along with the olive orchards.

6 Then the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they were told, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he [the Timnite] has taken his [Samson’s] wife and has given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.

7 And Samson said to them, If this is the way you act, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will quit.

8 And he smote them hip and thigh [unsparingly], a great slaughter; and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

9 Then the Philistines came up and encamped in Judah and spread themselves in Lehi.

10 And the men of Judah said, Why have you come up against us? And they answered, We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.

11 Then 3,000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock Etam and said to Samson, Have you not known that the Philistines are rulers over us? What is this that you have done to us? He said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

12 And they said to him, We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hands of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that you will not fall upon me yourselves.

13 And they said to him, No, we will bind you fast and give you into their hand; but surely we will not kill you. So they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.

14 And when he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon [Samson], and the ropes on his arms became as flax that had caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands.

15 And he found a still moist jawbone of a donkey and reached out and took it and slew 1,000 men with it.

16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey I have slain 1,000 men!

17 And when he stopped speaking, he cast the jawbone from his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi [the hill of the jawbone].

18 Samson was very thirsty, and he prayed to the Lord and said, You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?

19 And God split open the hollow place that was at Lehi, and water came out of it. And when he drank, his spirit returned and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore [the spring of him who prayed], which is at Lehi to this day.

20 And [Samson] judged (defended) Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

Judges 16:14-19 The Message

14-16 As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came to meet him, shouting in triumph. And then the Spirit of God came on him with great power. The ropes on his arms fell apart like flax on fire; the thongs slipped off his hands. He spotted a fresh donkey jawbone, reached down and grabbed it, and with it killed the whole company. And Samson said,

With a donkey’s jawbone, I made heaps of donkeys of them.

With a donkey’s jawbone, I killed an entire company.

17 When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone. He named that place Ramath Lehi (Jawbone Hill).

18-19 Now he was suddenly very thirsty. He called out to God, “You have given your servant this great victory. Are you going to abandon me to die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” So God split open the rock basin in Lehi; water gushed out and Samson drank. His spirit revived—he was alive again! That’s why it’s called En Hakkore (Caller’s Spring). It’s still there at Lehi today.

20 Samson judged Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines.

Samson, the defender of the Israelites for 20 years was forced to go into battle again. He had gone to see his Philistine wife and her father annoyed him by giving her out to someone else. He burnt their farms and fields and of course a fight ensued. In the fight he used jawbone to kill 1000 of his people’s enemies, but after such a feat, after he had vectored and overcome. He became very thirsty. I mean you can imagine how much sweat he must have lost killing 1000 warriors. Very much like Jackie Chan.

So here was one very thirsty Israeli warrior and there was no water anywhere to assuage his thirst. What did this fellow do. Despite his moral failings and impulsive nature, he decided to pray to God.

Many of us are like Samson in a way. We have fought all kinds of spiritual battles and we have won some.

But at the end of it all, there is still no sign of what to drink, what to eat, spiritually and physically.

The stubborn womanizer who was completely tactless and without guile, still remembered to entreat God. He called out to God, “You have given your servant this great victory. Are you going to abandon me to die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”

Now what did his God do, the Lord caused water to come out from an underground basin. He cracked the rock so that the underground water could seep out.

You know some interesting things come out of this story.

One is God is able to destroy any barrier between you and your outpouring.

Secondly, when you ask God for something He can cause that which you need to overflow in abundance. I mean, this guy just needed a few gulps of water, but instead he God a whole aquifer a whole underground lake of water opened up to him.

Meaning you can ask God for 1000 dollars and get 1 million. You can ask Him for a house and get a whole estate. You can ask him for a child and get triplets. You can ask Him for one gift and get nine gifts.

19 And God split open the hollow place that was at Lehi, and water came out of it. And when he drank, his spirit returned and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore [the spring of him who prayed]…

Anyone who can pray is entitled to this kind of spring too. I want to entreat you to pray like Samson did this morning and the same God will give you your own spring too.

1. Father give me my own En-hakkore too in Jesus name.

2. Oh Lord break up the rocks for my spring to come forth in Jesus name.

3. Oh Lord make me invincible to all attacks of my enemies in Jesus’ name.

4. Oh Lord remove every witchcraft rock for my spring to come forth in Jesus name.

5. Everywhere and situation of thirstiness in my life, remove it Lord in Jesus’ name.

6. Oh Lord revive my spirit with your living waters in Jesus’ name.

7. Oh Lord let dryness and barrenness in every area of my life become abundance and overflow in Jesus’ name.

8. Samson handled His prayer like a conversation. The bible says bring forth your strong reasons. I want you to behave like Samson now and bring forth your reasons to the Lord. He even says command me at my words. Go ahead and report the situation to God now and ask Him to release that spiritual spring in your life in Jesus’ name.
