In our culture the need is great for understanding these three realities, and how to address them. Jesus gives us an example of what He expects of us (verse 19):
1. Physical: Go home to your friends …
2. Psychological: Tell them …
3. Spiritual: What great things the Lord has done for us.
The healed man became an example of being obedient unto the Lord (verse 20):
1. Physical: He departed …
2. Psychological: He proclaimed …
3. Spiritual: What Jesus had done for him.
In order to tell others about Jesus and what He has done for us, requires that we have a mind-set of spiritual things, and an emotional desire of compassion for others. This mind-set and emotional desire of compassion comes from the Spirit of the Lord. The mind-set and the emotional desire are cultivated by reading and studying the written word of God. Reading the written word of God builds our faith in the Lord and points us in the right direction for telling others what Jesus has done for us.
The marching orders of Jesus to the church, on an individual basis, were His last words to the disciples: Go and tell, makes disciples, baptize them, teach them. This is God’s way of reclaiming His creation one by one.
In order to fulfill our marching orders, we must learn how to rebuke Satan, and ask the Lord to fill us with Holy Spirit. It requires that we learn how to live and walk in the three realities that make up life. It is there, that we meet the living resurrected Jesus Christ and walk in fellowship with Him!
The story of the Gentile in the country of the Gadarenes, living in a graveyard, is a clear picture of what it means to meet Jesus. Jesus heals us of our problems, He gives us a new home life, He gives us a purpose for living, and He gives us a job.
