MAYBE MY WILL, MAYBE GODS' WILL
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
There is no doubt that God can show us His will for our lives. Scriptures are full of examples and admonishments concerning the will of God for each of us.
At times it is easy to decipher.
Other times it is somewhat complex.
Then there are times when we are just not sure of what God would have for us to do.
I. When Patience runs thin and the flesh gets in the way.
Gen. 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
God had promised Abraham and Sara a child. Yet all they could see was barrenness and old age rapidly taking over.
They thought that surely there must be a plan B. Or that God needed their help.
How wrong they were. How costly their mistake was also.
Relationships were severely damaged, and the consequences of that decision continue until this day.
II. When things look Bleak, but you feel the Nudging of the Holy Spirit
1 Samuel 14:6 And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.
Jonathan knew that God was not limited, but he was a little unsure of the situation. He did not have a direct command from God to pursue the enemy on this occasion, but he knew that the Lord was on his side and would want victory over this evil foe.
There are doors that God opens and there are doors that God shuts. Sometimes the shut door is not the refusal of God so much as it is a test from God. He may just want you to turn the doorknob by faith and enter in. That is our "maybe".
In the natural, we encounter these situations all the time, but don't let it hinder us when we have high hopes about the matter. Some will get a new gun, buy quality ammunition, lease a piece of land, get up at 3 A.M., budle up and sit in a deer stand, freezing for 6 to 8 hours, in hopes of shooting a prize deer that may or may not show up. Others will go out on a limb and risk much of their hard earned savings to launch out on a business adventure that may or may not turn a profit.
We are not real sure of the outcome, but we believe that it can be good, so we pursue the endeavor.
III. We Admit our Limitations and put it in the Hands of God
Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Some have labeled this man as a person with schizophrenic faith. Does he believe or does he not?
I have to admit that I identify with this man.
I believe that nothing is impossible with God, but I have trouble believing he is going to do it for or through me (at times).
So I have to be honest with God and also humble enough to ask Him for help.
This man did just that and Jesus healed his troubled son.
Is there a MAYBE that the Lord has dropped in your heart? You need to act on that and see what God want to do through you.
