OR: God’s Remedy For Sin
Attention:
Locking The Door:
Comedian(secular) Elayne Boosler says—
“I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.”
There is a foolproof remedy for keeping your door locked!
Likewise, God has provided the only foolproof remedy for sin...Jesus, His only-begotten Son, His Servant!
Background:
~700 years prior to the Cross of Christ Jesus, Isaiah prophesied of the substitutionary atonement which would one day come thru God’s “Servant”(52:13a). Isaiah records details of the coming Servant’s willing sacrifice for the sake of all sinners.
The prophet Isaiah declared a future time when God’s unique Servant would provide the remedy for sin.
Jesus is God’s remedy for sin.
Why/How/When is Jesus God’s remedy for sin?
Our reception of Jesus as God’s remedy for personal sin.
‘RECEIVE’—More than mental acceptance, which only makes possibilities plausible. ‘Receiving’ on the other hand, has to do with acceptance by the heart, so that what is received, is taken to the point of actual reliance upon that which is received or in a Christian context, Who is received.
Jn. 1:10-13—“He[Jesus, The Word] was in the world, & the world was made through Him, & the world did not know Him. He came to His own, & His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

DECLARATION(53:8)
Explanation:(53:8)Message
53:8—“He was taken from prison & from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.”
When I use this term DECLARATION, the intent is not necessarily limited to verbal declaration, but rather is declared in multiple ways.
“He was taken from prison & from judgment,
cf.-Acts 8:32-35—The Ethiopian man to Philip—The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.” So the eunuch answered Philip & said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” Then Philip opened his mouth, & beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.”
‘Coercion’/“humiliation” is one way to perceive “prison/oppression.” It is an attempt to force compliance from those who refuse to comply with what is considered acceptable & ‘common’ in a culture.
The Servant, Jesus was mistreated & tormented at the hands of others who wanted ‘their’ will imposed upon Him.
The measures employed thru such threatenings & forced persuasions would describe His being forcibly “taken from” “prison & judgment” by unscrupulous men. They would be more than ready to misuse their political systems toward individual abuse. The Servant’s opposers would make the ‘court system’ meet their personal desire for vengeance, exposing it’s lack of blind/unprejudiced/unbiased justice. The rulers & their rulings furnished a ‘kangaroo court’ against Jesus.
In order to have true judgment & thus true ‘justice’, there must be a standard by which judgment & ‘justice’ is determined. That ‘standard’ can only be rightly measured & determined by & thru God!
Mat. 26:14-16—“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests & said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.”
Mat. 26:47-50—“And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords & clubs, came from the chief priests & elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” Immediately he went up to Jesus & said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” & kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came & laid hands on Jesus & took Him.”
Jn. 18:12—“Then the detachment of troops & the captain & the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus & bound Him.”
Jn. 18:19-24, 28—“The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples & His doctrine. Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues & in the temple, where the Jews always meet, & in secret I have said nothing. Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.” And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?” Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?” Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.”.....“Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, & it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.”
Jn. 19:1—“So then Pilate took Jesus & scourged Him.”
Mt. 27:27-30—“Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium & gathered the whole garrison around Him. And they stripped Him & put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, & a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him & mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they spat on Him, & took the reed & struck Him on the head.”
Jn. 19:3, 5-7, 12-16—“...And they struck Him with their hands.”.....“Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns & the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, “Behold the Man!” Therefore, when the chief priests & officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “You take Him & crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.” The Jews answered him, “We have a law, & according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.””.....“From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.” When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out & sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, & about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!” But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus & led Him away.”
*The Servant’s(Jesus’) illicit, unjust arrest & trial would lead to The Servant’s death. Thus actual ‘justice’ would be(& was) forcibly “taken from” The Servant(Jesus) thru the many elements of a wrongful & perverted miscarriage of justice.

“And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living;”
There is a specific timeframe(“generation”) within which the Servant would come to accomplish this greatest work of God. Yet, there is a hint here that it would be up to very specific “declare-ers” who would be part of & expose the real existence of “His generation.”
The outcome would be, that despite the fact that the Servant would be “cut off” thru His death, “His generation” would indeed be boldly & passionately “declared”!
•What “generation” or “Who” would follow a person who would die a liar’s/criminal’s death? Who would stand up for a person who was recognized by the state as a criminal, & openly mocked & destroyed by the state?...
•Only those who recognize that God reveals that His only-begotten son, Jesus, is no liar/criminal at all, but is instead the bearer of absolute truth!
•Only those who recognize that the Servant’s(Jesus’) death is the very key to forgiveness & freedom from sin!
*Always remember that ‘the state’ is NOT your Savior!...It CAN be your friend, but never your Savior! ‘The state’ cannot do what only God can do. ‘The state’ is only ‘capable’ of acting in accord with God’s desire, yet it only does that rarely! ‘The state’ most often takes on a life of it’s own, charging ahead with self-determined goals, with minimal to no consideration of God.

“For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.”
All who are God’s people, accept & ‘own’ the fact that they they are “transgressors” against God...that as part of their physical & spiritual makeup, they rebel against God...that they are ‘natural born’ sinners!...That they ‘naturally’ choose to serve self. In order to undercut such ‘natural’ sinful tendencies, God’s ‘super-natural’ ability to overcome ‘natural’ fleshly desire, must be introduced & adhered to!
cf.-53:4-5, 6c—“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, & afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”.....“...And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
The death(“stricken”) of God’s Servant would be the only answer for the specific problem of man’s “transgression”/rebellion. The death of God’s Servant will offer the otherwise unattainable solution to mankind’s “transgression.”
All who are God’s people also, accept/‘own’ God’s solution to their inherent sinfulness!...His solution is the death of His Servant, Christ Jesus. We accept that we are sinners in need of God’s salvation!
“Transgressions”(See 53:5)—evp ` peh’-shah—Noun Masc.—1) Transgression, rebellion—1a1) Transgression(against individuals), 1a2) Transgression(nation against nation), 1a3) Transgression(against God)—1a3a) in general, 1a3b) As recognized by sinner, 1a3c) As God deals with it, 1a3d) As God forgives, 1a4) Guilt of transgression, 1a5) Punishment for transgression, 1a6) Offering for transgression. Argumentation:
Rom. 1:8-17—“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established--that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you & me. Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles. I am a debtor both to Greeks & to barbarians, both to wise & to unwise. So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first & also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””
Mat. 5:10—“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
2Tim. 3:12—“Yes, & all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”
1Pet. 2:9-10—“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

Adapted from: DCTalk’s ‘Jesus Freak’
What will people think,
When they hear that I'm a Jesus Freak?
What will people do,
When they find that's it's true?
Separated, I cut myself clean,
From a past that comes back in my darkest of dreams.
Been apprehended by a spiritual force,
And a grace that replaced all the me I've divorced.
I saw a man with tat on his big fat belly,
It wiggled around like marmalade jelly,
It took me a while to catch what it said,
'Cause I had to match the rhythm,
Of his belly with my head.
"Jesus Saves" is what it raved in a typical tattoo green.
He stood on a box in the middle of the city,
And claimed he had a dream.
What will people think,
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak.
What will people do when they find that it's true.
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak,
There ain't no disguising the truth.
Kamikaze, my death is gain,
I've been marked by my maker,
A peculiar display
The high & lofty, they see me as weak,
'Cause I won't live & die for the power they seek.
There was a man from the desert with naps in his head,
The sand that he walked was also his bed,
The words that he spoke made the people assume,
There wasn't too much left in the upper room.
With skins on his back & hair on his face,
They thought he was strange by the locusts he ate.
The Pharisees tripped when they heard him speak,
Until the king took the head of this Jesus freak.
What will people think,
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do when they find out that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak,
There ain't no disguising the truth.
.....
No I ain't into hiding.
People say I'm strange, does it make me a stranger,
That my best friend was born in a manger.
.....
What will people think,
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do when they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak,
There ain't no disguising the truth.
.....
There ain't no disguising the truth.
What will people think?
What will people do?
I don't really care
What else can I say?
There ain't no disguising the truth,
Jesus is the way.
