This verse in the WORD of God is so powerful and it says a lot to us as the body of Christ. We are not just human beings we carry in us Christ himself. And I believe that it's time to see ourselves has a vessel of honour that God through His Son chose to live in.
Our bodies is the temple of God and we are to respect God in us by allowing Him to live in us and through us. We are so blessed that God is in us and not in animals or wood or in the air. His love for us could not live anywhere else but in his children and that is a privilege and must be appreciated as such.
1 John 4:17
Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world.
Other translations write it this way:
This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement: In this world we are like Jesus. - NIV
In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgement [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world. - AMP
If God’s love is made perfect in us, we can be without fear on the day when God judges the world. We will be without fear, because in this world we are like Jesus. - ERV
This is how love has been perfected in us, so that we can have confidence on the Judgement Day, because we are exactly the same as God is in this world. - CEB
I am using different versions so has to get a full understanding of this truth that as Jesus is so are we. But unfortunately we has the body of Christ do not see ourselves like Jesus sees us.
Jesus does not see us any different from Him. And this is why I couldn't wait to write this with the help of the Holy Spirit. God loves us so much that He lives in us.
1 Corinthians 6:12 - 20
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
This is a warning from the Lord that we need to abide with. Our bodies are not ordinary bodies and whenever we do not obey the Holy Spirit we find ourselves living with the consequences of not listening to the voice of God. In us lives the presence of God, we actually carry God with us everywhere we go and that is why his name is Omnipresent and Omnipotent God. God is everywhere and all powerful God.
We cannot defile our bodies because God is in us. And not only that, we are one with the Lord in our spirit. Our Spirit and the Lord's Spirit are one. It's not possible to separate our Spirit from the Lord's once we become a child of God by accepting the gift of salvation. We are immediately joined to Him when we do this.
The Lord paid a high price for us, when he laid down his life for us. This is why the WORD of God says that we have been brought at a price.We are to honour God with our bodies and flee from anything that will make us fall into sexual immorality.
Our body is the temple of God!
Colossians 1:27
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Christ living in us is the hope of glory and not the hope of a defiled body and certainly not of sin, sickness, disease , shame and poverty. He is in us so that he will show his glory in our lives, God wants to be glorified in us all and he said he will not share his glory with anyone in our lives. God is love and loves us so much. We show him that we love him by allowing him to work in us. God wants to do great and mighty things in our lives and has we submit to Him in us we can achieve all his desires in our lives without struggling and he in turn will be blessed to live in us.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
When Jesus was crucified on the cross we were there with Him in spirit and because of that we are not the ones living anymore, it is Christ himself permanently living in us.This is glorious to have Christ living in us . As we acknowledge this truth and walk by faith we put our focus on Him in us and we start living the way He wants us to live. Remember Jesus would always say that He only does what he sees his Father do and only says what his Father says, Jesus never did anything outside his Father's will.
Living in obedience to him in us will also go a long way in our lives since we have been crucified with him. And it is by faith that we accept that it is Him in us. Our trust is that Christ is in us. By believing that Christ is in us. It's in Him we also live and move and have our being.
We shouldn't see ourselves living anymore by faith in Him that died for us.
Remember that as he is so are we.
1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
Christ living in us is greater than the one living in this world. Christ in us is much greater the the devil living in this world, in this world is a lot of evil things is going on but when we have Christ in us we are more than conquerors in Him. The WORD of God says that we are in this world but we are not of this world are we are to live accordingly. And this is the reason Paul said this in Romans 8: 31 - 39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is also what it means that as he is so are we in this world. Therefore, nothing can or no situation can condemn us and he is still praying for us has His body here on earth. Not only that he says that nothing can ever separate us from his love. We are in Christ and Christ is in us.
Our lives must glorify the Lord and not Satan here on earth. God definitely loves us so much that he lives in us in power. What are we afraid of when He lives in us and working all things out for us?. I am assured of the fact that He is perfecting that which concerns us all till we all meet in His Kingdom.
John 14:20
On that day [when that time comes] you will know for yourselves that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.
As He is so are are in this world and because of that He says that there will come a time, when he comes back that we all realise that He is in His Father and we are in Him and He is in us. This is awesome and I believe it with all of my heart that we are in Him, knowing this will help us to live a life that is pleasing to Him, and not living has we want. Living in the truth that as He is so are we should be seen has a blessing and be who He wants us to be.
This is why the book of Matthew chapter 5 verse 14 - 16 says this:
“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognise and honour and] glorify your Father who is in heaven".
Jesus is the light of the world and because as He is so are we, we are also His light in this world and our light is to shine to dispel everything that represents darkness in our lives.
God loves us and wants us to live by faith and not by sight.
In Christ we are blessed not cursed
In Christ we and the healed not the sick
In Christ we are saved not condemned
In Christ we are the head and not the tail
Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
In Him we are blessed with every spiritual blessing because as He is so are we in this world. What are the spiritual blessing?
1. We are chosen before the foundation of the world
2. Holy and blameless
3. In his love
4. Predestined to adoption
5. Accepted in the beloved
6. Redemption through his Blood
7. Forgiveness of sins
8. Riches of his grace abounds to us
9. Made known to us the mystery of his will
10.We have obtained an eternal inheritance
11. Heard the word of truth
12. Sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise
13. We know the hope of his glory
14. The exceeding greatness of his power towards us
15. We know the riches of the glory of his inheritance
Jesus Christ as done much more than this and He is still working in us according to Ephesians 2:10 which says that we are His workmanship created in Him for good works which He prepared for us to walk in. Everything that we are to do here on earth has already being done for us in Christ all we have to do is to bring it all out by faith. God Himself called those things that were not as if it was.
We are the body of Christ and we have all the privileges of Christ in our lives, because as He is so are we in this world.
He said that because as he is so are we in this world out of us flows rivers of living waters in the book of John 7:38 and this living waters is to do exploits for His Kingdom according to the book of Mark.
He said this in Mark 16: 14 - 18
Later, Jesus appeared to the eleven [disciples] themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He called them to account for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen [from death]. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed [in Me] and has been baptised will be saved [from the penalty of God’s wrath and judgement]; but he who has not believed will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.
This is the power of God in us , as He is so are we in this world.
We are to preach the gospel the same way He did when He was here with us. He wants us to carry out His mission like He did. Jesus had a servants attitude in Him and we are to have the same in us has His people and not be to masters of all but servants of all. To serve is to be great in God's eyes. Jesus came to serve and we to do likewise.
As He is so are we in this world.
God says as He is so are we in this world this also means that He has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power , love and sound mind in 2 Timothy 1:7
God says as He is so are we in this world says that we are a new creation, old things have passed away and all things are new in 2 Corinthians 5:17
God says as He is so are we this is why there is no condemnation to those that are Him because we do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the spirit in Romans 8:1
God says as He is so are we therefore, we died, and our life is hidden with Christ in God in Colossians 3:3
God say as He is so are we in this world and this makes us complete in Christ who is the head of all principality and power in Colossians 2: 9-10
We live by faith and not by sight in the Son of God who died for us.
Let us believe and trust in what Jesus has done for us and give our all to him by allowing Him to live in and through us.
