At precisely 7:58 AM local time on December 26, 2004, a huge earthquake rumbled on the ocean floor just off the coast of Indonesia. That earthquake, the second strongest ever recorded, set in motion forces that produced a Tsunami, a massive set of waves that caused unprecedented devastation throughout the Indian Ocean Region. The precise death toll will never be known, but within moments more than three hundred thousand lives were lost in an area stretching from Indonesia to Thailand, Sri Lanka, South India and even Africa, Millions more were displaced by the massive destruction. The Indian Ocean tsunami now ranks the deadliest disaster in modern history.
Beloved this morning I have read you this event because today in modern life we are having a tsunami that is sweeping away our future and is killing away the spiritual inheritance that we are wanting to pass on to our children. There was once a youthful rock star that told an interviewer, “I believe in absolutely nothing”, which sadly enough speaks for a large amount of our young people today.
As we are living in the last days many see our young people and even older saints falling away as the bible says this will happen, but many say that we are fast growing and furiously growing in our religious beliefs and in some places more so than ever. This is true but with false applications.
There is a tsunami of false religions that are killing our people. People are no longer looking toward Jesus for answers but now looking at new patterns of religiosity. This beloved does not represent a turning to biblical Christianity. This new spirituality is allied with the current fashions, such as pluralism, relativism, syncretism, and consumerism.
What is pluralism? This pluralism calls us or forces us as Christians to respect and accept all religious claims equally valid, beloved in other words Jesus Christ is not the only way to heaven, there are other ways and avenues to get to heaven, so in other words Jesus Christ died for absolutely no reason. To say the least to accept this is to say that what we believe as Christ being the only way makes you and I bigoted and hateful people.
Relativism: Denies the validity of all absolute moral, spiritual, or philosophical truth or claims and celebrates the beauty of diversity and the validity of virtually all “lifestyle” choices. Homosexuality is accepted and there’s nothing wrong with that immoral lifestyle, it is relative.
Syncretism: This is an attempt to unify different forms of belief’s and practices, for an example we have a someone that would describe herself as a nice Jewish, southern Baptist, Buddhist girl, that quotes, ”I feel as if I’m a buffet”.
Consumerism: This defines the individual as the center of the universe, with a commitment that last only as long as the needs of such a person are being met.
Beloved I have mentioned these four elements this evening because this has become the tsunami of the spiritual destruction of this age and has taken away many good people even in the church of God. Sadly enough this is what young people have found themselves involved in, the wrong Jesus and the wrong biblical principles and are following the wrong doctrine that is not of Jesus Christ but that caters to the flesh and denies the power of Christ and His Gospel and favors what the wickedness of the heart desires, if it feels right do it.
This evening I want to preach a sermon I have entitled, “Reaching this wicked Generation”. Today beloved how many know we are living in a time were the people that see Jesus today do not see Jesus as the Savior of the world, the Healer of our souls, the only Way the Truth and the Life. Today they see Jesus as weak man who died for the wrong cause and the wrong purpose, a foolish man that died for nothing.
People see Jesus today as someone that is dead and no longer has the power to do anything that is worthy of any praise, but I declare to you this evening that Jesus is alive and well and is working in these last days and will show Himself to and through His people.
Judges 21:25
25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
“The World says it alright”
The transgender girlfriend of the pervert accused of sexually assaulting an 85-year-old woman sent her condolences Saturday to the battered victim.
"My heart goes out to the victim and her family," wrote Tahttiana Fermin in an e-mail. "All I can say is that we as human beings get to pick the friends we like to hang out with and the man we want to live the rest of our lives with.
"Unfortunately we can't pick the choices they make in life."
Her boyfriend Jeffrey Ritter, 32, a member of the Latin Kings with a seven-state rap sheet, was busted Thursday for the brutal attack on the Upper East Side. He was arrested in his Brooklyn apartment.
Fermin stood by her man, writing that "I love you and hope that you as well can move forward." Ritter sported a tattoo of his girlfriend's name above his left eyebrow.
But she also said that Ritter had made her a victim with his wrong-headed choices in life.
"I as well am a victim," she wrote. "A victim of falling in love."
The real victim, who weighed just 100 pounds, was put into a headlock on Madison Ave., dragged down a sunken stoop and forced to perform oral sex, cops said.
Fermin also attempted to set the record straight about her personal life.
"I am not a drug user or abuser, I walk with class, a good head on my shoulders, and feet full flat on the ground moving forward," she wrote. "No one can defeat me but me."
Everything that I read to you this morning the world looks at and sees the crime committed but says nothing of anything else, why? Because the world says that it’s okay. Pastor what are you talking about? As I read the article even the newspaper is referring this man who is a transgender as a woman, but the world says it’s okay, the paper doesn’t report that this is a disgusting act because now it is okay and even as Christian some believe it is okay, beloved the Gospel says it’s not.
Romans 1:18-27
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Beloved what the world says to be acceptable to God it is detestable and not of God. God forbid we become pluralist or consumist that we might for the sake of acceptance agree to a lifestyle that will defile the creation of God who we are as believers in Christ. Beloved just because the world may seem like the majority and seem as if they are winning as my soul lives I believe my bible and I believe the word of God and my bible says that we will reign with Christ in the very end, beloved we win.
Let us not conform to the word lest we grieve the Holy Spirit and continue to pollute what wonderful work God has started in us as new or older saints in Christ. The world may act as if it is okay but they are dying without Jesus and they need hope and beloved you and I are that hope.
“The vessel they need”
As a Christian beloved our mission is to bring as many souls to the kingdom as possible, not for the eye service of man but for the glory of God and for the sake of their very souls. Because as a Christian it should bother us that souls are going to hell without Jesus. This generation has become worst than the last and with that beloved they have become more cold toward genuine love and more cold toward the gospel and are in need of that which they are missing. Beloved you are that vessel and that communicator for God to reach this generation that seems unreachable.
Acts 2:39-41
39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly[a] received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
This is what the world that is heading on a collision course with God needs, someone that will look beyond who they are and tell them what they need to hear and help them find that which they are looking for. Beloved the bible promises you and I the salvation of our children and those who are afar off not only in the flesh but our children also in the spirit.
Philippians 2:15-16
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
The wonderful want for a Christian not for a person that just claims Christianity but lives it whole heartedly. Beloved be that vessel for that one soul that is hurting without Jesus, this generation is not unreachable. Your husband, your son or daughter, or neighbor or family member is not unreachable we can become exhausted of the possibilities.
“Thank God someone fought for my soul”
We too often beloved give up on what God can do through Jesus Christ for a soul that looks completely gone. Before salvation beloved I was not reachable at all. Hate, anger, bitterness, and resentment were my best friends, I couldn’t trust or give way for anyone but thanks be to God that someone even with all my spurts and words of hurts continued to love me and reach out to me with real love. I didn’t have anything to offer but problems and I was still important to this Christian that saw what Christ was able to do with a sinner in need of the grace and mercy of Jesus. Here I am today happily married preaching the gospel al because some said there is a generation to reach.
Twenty-four year old Nejdra Nance grew up in Bridgeport, CT, in a family where she never quite felt she belonged, so much so that she spent time searching missing person’s websites looking for an answer. Then one day she came across the picture of 19 day old Carlina White who disappeared from her hospital bed on August 4, 1987. As she looked at the pictures she became convinced that she must be this missing child. She reached out to the missing baby’s mother, Joy White, and with the help of the NYPD and DNA testing, it was confirmed that Nejdra Nance was really Carlina White.
It all started with a “feeling” that she just didn’t belong. The nagging feeling lead to a search. Says Nance's biological grandmother, Elizabeth White, 71. "She searched, and then she found Joy."
