The absolute truth of this question this morning, “God why are these things happening to me?” This is a question that we have all asked and have all sincerely wanted to know. This morning I pray that this sermon would give you hope in knowing that Christ works all things out for His glory. Many if honest this morning there has been a spiritual battle throughout the week or maybe throughout the month or maybe even your entire Christian walk thus far and this question has been reoccurring time and time again, why are these things happening to me?
This morning we could sometimes feel like Job, who we all know was a man that was attacked by Satan himself because God allowed him to be touched but not perished, nonetheless with life and it’s applications we could have this mindset that God has forsaken us, beloved let not this thought taint your mind thus infecting your hearts to believe such wickedness would take place from our Savior.
Beloved this morning I want to preach a sermon I’ve entitled “Not snapping nor braking”. Life is harsh beloved it is cruel and unloving I truly believe it is due to the hand of God that love even still exist upon the earth for it was the love of Christ that was displayed upon that cross to show how much of it He has for us as it has stood the test of time. Nevertheless in today’s thinking of what we see and what we read lest what happens to us we could in the midst of all the craziness question God of His love for us and even these words Lord why have you forsaken me? This morning beloved Jesus has not forsaken you but is preparing you. Believe it or not in the midst of your trials there is a testing and a trying and a reproofing that is taking place that you may come out as pure as gold and ready for the work of God upon your life.
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you until it seems you cannot hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time when the tide will turn.—
Some of us this morning are in that tight place and God wants to tell you keep on going its right around the corner, that blessing is right around the corner. This morning I have a short pilot scripture very familiar yet I believe that God is going to give us great insight this morning, let’s believe God together.
Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
“I will never leave you nor forsake you”
We hear this scripture and sometimes we could find ourselves if we are honest and doubt this portion of scripture not with our words but sometimes with our faith in Him who is true this morning God our King, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. This morning beloved we are not a forsaking people, God has not forgotten us, but life is allowed to become of us as we live it.
The troubles and pains, the worries and the fears that we need to trust our God for are all a part of life as we know it. The loss of a loved one, the loss of a job whatever it may be it does not escape us nor skip us this is a part of life in which we live and need to understand that we are a covered people.
I will never leave you nor forsake you; our word tells us how many believe this this morning. Why was this written in this time? What was God foreseeing in the future that this was placed upon the holiest of scripture for you and I to read and have what?
Even though this scripture was pronounced to Joshua, this belongs to all the faithful servants of God. Old-Testament promises may be applied to New-Testament saints.
This promise contains the sum and substance of all the promises. I will never, no, never leave thee, nor ever forsake thee. Here are no fewer than five negatives heaped together, to confirm the promise; the true believer shall have the gracious presence of God with him in life, at death, and forever. If I could say this beloved we need it right now.
What a promise we have of God this morning to know that He will always be with the faithful Christian to hold and help. This word so sobering to the believer that is in the balance with their walk wondering with a sincere heart to want to serve yet lacking the will to do so with no strength to go on let this stir your heart this morning as we are faithful so Christ is faithful. I will never, no, never leave you nor forsake you.
“The mistake with believing this statement in sin”
People today believe that as long as they believe in God that this word stands true to them as well. I don’t want to burst your bubble but the bible says that God is speaking to His faithful followers. Many say well the bible says this, yes but for whom? The sinner or the saint? The sinner is in their condition because they are away from God the saint may be going through it because Satan is on their backs, beloved how can God bless sin? When we are in the will of God and realized that we are covered there is a peace that cannot be explained that comes from our Savior, but going through the storm without Christ we won’t even see this scripture. Many are too familiar with blaming God as oppose to blaming sin.
When God spoke through the disciples He was using His men to speak a word to His church going through the turmoil of being a Christian. Jesus even separates such acts of sin as many like to believe that Jesus does not do such a thing.
2 Corinthians 6:13-15
13 Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open. 14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
Beloved did not Christ come to die for the sinner? Yet the sinner that rejects the Christ this as their Lord and Savior this is how it stands between them and the Christian. What God has brought this morning in this truth beloved is do not knit yourself with an unbeliever and think you are in the will of God, we are to be knitted to Christ first and foremost and those that are knitted to Christ will be made one union as it pleases Him. Beloved God sees and gives choices and as believers of Christ we will learn one thing people are in their position because of sin, we are in our position because God wants us to be bent yet not brake, stretched yet not snap.
“Help is in the trial of our life through Jesus Christ”
Men can do nothing against God, and God can make all that men do against his people to turn to their good. With God there is always light at the end of the long tunnel. As our bible gives us the hope of truth and the word of life, we know that we live on planet earth and this is where we need God. Those mountains that we are climbing can sometimes feel as if we have rocks in our shoes as the mountain is getting steeper. Maybe the valley is deeper than we anticipated or the water is deeper than we can handle, yet in the midst of that our word says that we have a helper in our Lord and fear has no place in me for what can man do to me?
Romans 8:31
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Such wonderful truth this morning that God is on our side that we have a greater ending than a beginning. It is not how we start but how we finish this morning beloved. Those doubts can later turn into a faith unmovable because even through your doubt you stood obedient and God honored that thus turning your doubt into sincere faith. No more questioning if God has forsaking but knowing that God is preparing.
Beloved do you know why it is good to stretch a rubber band so when it is placed under extreme pressing it doesn’t snap, beloved maybe this is us this morning, we might be getting stretched in our walk with God and He is so allowing it that when we have kept His word, branded upon our hearts when we are placed under extreme pressure we don’t snap.
Beloved we could trust in God’s word this morning, God says “I will never, no, never leave you nor forsake you”, “Because I love you”.
