Summary: How to discover your treasure here in life. A new 2 part series

Discovering your treasure from the Lord

Stand and lift up your bible and repeat after me.

This is my Bible.

I am what it says I am.

I can do what it says I can do.

I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.

Today I will learn more of the word of God.

The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.

I will never be the same.

I will never be the same.

In Jesus Name.

Would you take God's precious Holy Word, and open to the Book of Colossians chapter 1.

Please say, “Amen when you are there.”

We're going to have a good time in the Word tonight, because we're just going to brag on Jesus.

I am going to begin reading, in Colossians chapter 1. I begin in verse 9: (Colossians 1:9-20) “9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”

And then, in chapter 2 and verse 3, it says, “In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3) Tonight, I want to help you to discover the treasure that you have in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many years ago, the Spanish Armada was sailing off the coast of Florida. A hurricane struck, and those ships that were laden with millions of dollars in gold and silver ingots went to the bottom, in shallow water. People knew the treasure had been lost, but they didn't know where the ships had gone down. Ships went down near many beaches here in Florida over the years. Many times, I've been in that water on both coasts and other places. Many times, I've been in that water, swimming, snorkeling, but I didn't come up with any millions. I didn't come up with any silver or any gold. The ships were there in shallow water. Fisherman, doubtless, fished over that spot sometimes. They would hang a hook, perhaps, on a lump of gold, and curse their luck, because they had hung a hook down beneath the water on something they could not see.

Then one day, some explorers said, “The ship must be here.” They went out, and they made the surveys; they tested, and they went under. And, there it was, in shallow water—so shallow that any of us who could swim normally could have gone to the bottom. They brought up millions of dollars. There it was but we didn't know it was there.

I believe, tonight, that many of us are yet to discover the full treasure we have in Jesus Christ. Oh, dear friend, in Him—in Jesus Christ—“are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”

Think of that—all of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And it's all in our faith in Jesus Christ.

How do we do that? It is hard.

You may be thinking, how does David know what I am going though?

You are right. I don’t know but He does.

We have to walk in faith.

We have to do everything without grumbling.

We have to try and develop a new habit. Being positive…in all we do….

Say. “Positive”

Now, listen—if you want to get in on what God is doing, if you want to understand what God is up to, if you want to bring your life in line with almighty God, then make it the purpose of your heart and of your life that God's purpose will be your purpose, that

Jesus will have the preeminence.

Preeminence is being first.

I say, “Good morning Lord” when I wake up.

Now, my dear friend, you can never know the fullness of God in your life until the one single aim of your life is that Christ, and Christ alone, will be exalted.

We have to decide in life which direction we are going to take. Everything we do is based on a decision that we make and the Lord allows us to kame mistakes and to attain successes.

Everything you and I go through is for a purpose.

Purpose is part of what you and I are here for. You may be saying inside right now, “Look at me, what purpose do I have in my life?”

The reason you have breath and a heartbeat is because He loves you and gives you free will to go through life.

He allows mistakes, successes, disappointments, dreams, and treasures to be a part of my life and yours.

When those ships in the Spanish Armada were on the waters surrounding Florida, they were there because of a dream.

A dream. Who here has a dream?

There was a dream to go to a foreign land and find riches and a new life.

God has purpose for you and I. We just have to trust Him in all we do.

He loves us more than we will ever know.

There is an old children’s hymn that goes like this;

“Jesus loves me this I know

Cause the Bible tells me so.

Yes, Jesus loves me.

Yes, Jesus loves me.

The Bible tells me so.”

The disciples and many of those you read about in the Bible were not perfect. They were like you and I. They did not think that they were worthy of a dream until it actually coming true. Dreams do come true.

In His time. Amen?

Some people would look at where you are now and what you’ve been through and say,” It’s a miracle you’re still standing, but be thankful you are.”

Others would look at you and shake their heads before saying, “You should have learned something in that mess.”

And you can say to them,” I have and I am and I am praying for you. Be blessed in Him.”

My God is an awesome God. Amen.

I am going to close with a song that came out a little while ago and it was meant for me and maybe someone here.
