. It's important for you to know, in case you are full of good deeds, thinking that God had chosen you.
What of those who are soaked in the world; is not that the world is holding them, they are grabbing the world with their two hands and never ready to let go. If such is your case, you have urgent need of Christ than anybody, first to preserve your body, then your soul and your spirit, before the thief steals your body, kills your soul and destroy your spirit.
The problem with the messages we hear today is that some focus on the lawless while others focus on the lawful. The lawless as I introduced recently from this chapter have problem with self indulgent sins like evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:fornication as the prodigal son - *Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.* 2 Timothy 2:19. The lawless misinterpret the grace of God, doing evil that good may come, always enjoying the pleasures of sins. You can't be doing what you like and want to be begotten by God via his word. Christianity is a call to self denial. It must cost you something.
While the lawful as I had dealt extensively have problem with dead works, having the form of godliness denying the power to be sons of God like the Pharisees - *For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.* Matthew 5:20. Their righteousness were measured on good works. Jesus here was saying until you repent from such self righteousness, you will perish.
These are two sets of human that need salvation. If you are lawless, walking after the flesh, know for sure you are not saved. If you are lawful, full of good deeds, trusting on yourself, self righteous in yourself without the righteousness of God, you are still not saved.
For the lawful, you need to repent from your dead works as I explained in the previous chapter, while for the lawless you need to repent from walking after your own course, walking like a goat and living like a dog - *Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:* Ephesians 2:2
