Hebrews 11:29-12:2 “Let Us Run”
1. Faith is often recorded in Scripture leaning towards Running
• Isaiah says those that have Faith in the Lord 31will renew their strength They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, Isa 40:31
• Paul make a statement that who run with faith there is a prize 24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
• The writer of Hebrews makes claim that we are to Run, Faith with great determination Heb 12: 1and let us run with perseverance the race marked
2. Faith is not only referring to a run but it is also a Great Challenge to simply Believe
• Notice in the readings the great Challenges recorded By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish because she had received the spies in peace” Rahabs challenge was to believe in the Hebrew God
• By faith the walls of Jericho fell after they had been encircled for seven days. Walk and believe
• “By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as if it were dry land,” says the writer, “but when the Egyptians attempted to do so they were drowned.
• In the face of each of these enormous challenges, the people of God had faith. They did not overcome obstacles with their intelligence or physical strength, but with faith. They trusted God to work for good in their lives, in every time and place and situation.
3. Faith is a Run, Faith is a Challenge, and Faith is Difficult
• Life is Difficult But God is good. Faith is difficult because it’s not always a Comfortable Life
• Faith does not Free us From Pain and suffering . “We all experience sadness,” said Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, “we all come at times to despair, and we all lose hope that the suffering in our lives and in our world will never end.” But sadness and suffering are never the end. Tutu had faith that suffering could be transformed, and he said that “God is an expert at dealing with chaos, with brokenness, with all the worst that we can imagine. God created order out of disorder, cosmos out of chaos, and God can do so now.”
4. Faith is a Run, Faith is a Challenge, Faith is Difficult, So Let Us Run
• Let us Run by unloading stuff , let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely,
• Let us Run with Perseverance “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses and We can learn a lot from our role models and coaches in the great “cloud of witnesses,” men and women who have run the race of faith through enormous challenges and difficulties. We can go a lot farther when we “run with perseverance the race that is set before us,” not giving up when we feel pain or suffering or sadness.
• Let us Run knowing God is running ahead of us looking to Jesus the pioneer (Innovator, forerunner, Creator) and perfecter of our faith, Jesus endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God” (12:1-2). Jesus endured the agony and the shame of the cross
• Let Us Run so Corruption, dishonesty, and deceitfulness can Drown in the Sea, ,
• Let us Run so Walls, Barriers ,that hinder us from serving can fall,
• Let Us Run so Disobedience Waywardness, rebelliousness, Faithlessness will flee,
• Let us Run so the Kingdoms of addiction, Hatred, racism, discrimination can be conquered,
• Let us Run mouths of hate speech, unkindness, heartlessness, ruthlessness can be shut,
• Let us Run so we can encounter Resurrections Faith will come alive, healings will be encountered, dead souls will come alive.,
• Let us Run because we are surrounded by great Faith that Run through Torturing, suffered mocking’s, floggings, chains and imprisonments, stoned to death, sawn in two, they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, persecuted, tormented—They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.
They never stopped Running. Let Us Run!
