2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Be careful of those who claim to have some newly revealed thing that was given only to them. Many times it is what they want or what they want to happen rather than a word of prophecy or word of knowledge or wisdom.
We laugh at the story where the boy walks up to the girl and tells her God said she is to marry him and she replies that God did not tell her. Yet, how many people have done what someone has said because God's name was invoked and yet it was the will of the speaker, not God.
God often gets the blame or the credit for things He did not do or approve.
Jeremiah 23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
Try the spirits for there are many in pulpits and running about in the congregations that are spouting many things that are of their imagination or their desire to manipulate and control using God's name to push their agenda or magnify themselves.
Ladies, you need to be very wise. False shepherds target you.
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
I have read too many accounts of women being deceived by a wolf in sheep's clothing and lured into affairs because God told him that she was to be his spiritual wife or somehow she was to be his stress relief so he could do the mighty work of God. A young lady once shared with me that she attended more than one church where the pastor had a harem and it was known by all, but condoned because he was the man of God. A woman stripped because she was told by the preacher that during this prayer time they were to get naked before God. There is a church in Africa where the pastor sucks the breasts of women to get their sin out and they buy it. Another told the ladies to not wear underwear so God could enter them.
Why women fall for these things boggles my mind. How does people like Jim Jones and the Branch Davidian leader get people to do crazy things? They are not reading the Word nor listening to the Lord. That makes them easy prey for the roaring lion who walks about seeking whom he may destroy.
Seek counsel from other godly people before you comply or believe in a "new thing" from some fellow you met or heard on TV or even if it is your pastor. Search the Word. If it contradicts the Word in any way it is a false prophecy. The Bible does not hinder the Spirit working, but the Spirit will never contradict the Word that He was so involved in giving to us. Ask God to have the Holy Spirit confirm the prophecy or reject it.
Don't go to compounds either here or abroad. Don't sell your house. Don't enter into a sin of any kind that you have been told is an exception in your case because God had "blessed it" or that God has called the man to be like David or Solomon. Get away from the person. Turn off that program. Get alone with God and His word asking for wisdom from the Holy Spirit. Seek other advice outside of your circle. If the entire church is spellbound by the leader or member then you will not get godly counsel. The witness of two or three who are deceived will not lead you into truth.
Do not be like the deacon that said if the pastor said the white wall was black he would believe him. God has not called us to idolatry or men of God to be idols. God gave us leaders, but Paul said to follow him because he followed Christ. If the leader, ordained or lay, ceases to follow Christ then to follow Christ you quit following that leader.
Be wise! Be safe! Maranatha!!
