If you have kids you know they are prone to steal…first they don’t even know that they are stealing…
A REALLY DUMB THIEF
Any thief knows that the easiest way to steal gasoline from a car is to siphon it from the other guy’s tank into your own. Stick a rubber hose in his gas tank, suck on the other end of the rubber hose until you get a mouth full of the gas, then spit it out. From then on, the gasoline will flow into your tank.
Makes perfect sense, right?
Well, not to a thief in Seattle. The young thief decided to siphon gas from Dennis Quigley’s motor home.
When Dennis, who was inside the motor home when it happened, heard the noises outside, he investigated the situation only to find the thief curled up on the ground vomiting violently. What in the world happened?
The thief made a serious mistake. Intending to suck up the gasoline from the gas tank, he somehow put his hose into the wrong hole on the RV.........and, unfortunately, sucked up the sewage tank instead!!!!
The dumb thief turned out to be a teenage boy, age 14. However, he will not be prosecuted and charges will not be pressed.
Dennis and the police agree that he has suffered enough already!!!

Jacob at Kroger in Tupelo MS in one of those buggies that has the car attached to it…pull up to the cash register and there he sat with a half-eaten bag of marshmallows…
The bible clearly says,
“THOU SHALL NOT STEAL.”
Stealing is more than just going to the store and taking a candy bar.
Christians can be living in thievery and not even know it.
Examples of this could be lying on your tax returns or taking things without permission from your job.
Refusing to pay back debts.
Finding someone’s lost item and making no effort to return it…finders keepers losers weepers…
Thievery starts with coveting and one sin leads to another.
If you take something that doesn’t belong to you without permission that’s stealing.
God does not deal with this sin lightly.
We must turn away, repent, obey the law, and trust in God to provide for us.
THIEVES WILL NOT ENTER HEAVEN.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 You know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God, don’t you? Stop deceiving yourselves! Sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, THIEVES, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God. That is what some of you were!
Some look at thieves differently…
Proverbs 6:30-31 People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving. Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.
IN BUSINESS
Hosea 12:6-8 But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always. The merchant uses dishonest scales and loves to defraud. Ephraim boasts, “I am very rich; I have become wealthy. With all my wealth they will not find in me any iniquity or sin.”
Kidnapping is thievery.
Exodus 21:16 Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.
Deuteronomy 24:7 If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from among you.
Accomplices
Proverbs 29:24-25 The accomplices of thieves are their own enemies; they are put under oath and dare not testify. Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.
A thief might not get caught by the law, but God knows.

ARE YOU TELLING THE TRUTH?
Have you ever been around someone who you know is lying…basically because they have opened their mouth… they couldn’t tell the truth if someone was holding gun to their head…they are like this pic…that’s the way your guys were last week when I told you that that the most STDs are found in the retirement villages in Florida…speaking of Florida…
Two guys meet in Florida to go fishing and you know that fishermen never lie.
One says: ’I went fishing last week and caught a herring that weighed 450 pounds.
The other guy looks at him and says: ’I too was fishing last week, and I didn’t catch anything, but I pulled up the hook, and standing on the hook was a lantern from an old ship. God only knows how long it was lying in the mud, because it was covered with seaweed and barnacles.
I washed it the best I could and polished it, and on the bottom was a scripted engraving, ’Manufactured 1467’.
This was before Columbus and would you believe it, the light was still burning!’ The other guy says, ’I’ll take off 100 pounds from the herring, you blow out the light.’

Let me tell you about this wonderful carriage ride Leslie and I took this summer downtown Atlanta…now surely nobody would lie on a sight seeing tour…but this lady had no trouble telling us all about how Ghostbusters was filmed at this building and Jon Bonet Ramsey case was tried in the federal courthouse downtown…umm that was in Boulder Colorado and Ghostbusters was actually filmed in NYC…we looked it up….I would have asked her for the horses name but I don’t think she would have told us the truth…

That’s bad news because how many of you have told a lie?

Does that mean you can not go to heaven?
No of course not…
Just like the other pieces of trash we have dealt with over the past few weeks…like pride, strife, sexual immorality…we have to roll up our sleeves and get to work cleaning this mess up…when you tell a lie you spend the rest of your life telling more lies to keep that lie alive…
So admit to your lie and let it die…repent of stealing and stop it…
The first step to cleaning up the mess of a life we have made is to admit that it is a mess that we have contributed to making…
Unless we are willing to come to Jesus and admit our life is a mess…then he cant help us to clean it up…
Invitation.
When we steal or tell a lie…it breaks God’s heart…there is nothing that brings pain like having one of your children lie to you…or to steal from you…that’s the way God feels every time we chose to lie or steal… so today I say we throw away stealing and lying because as Christians
What breaks God’s heart should break ours…
So we say Lord cleanse me of what breaks your heart…
