3 points to ponder regarding the POWER of GOD. We have no power to become a CHILD of GOD except to change our thoughts and ways
GOD’s POWER in your life makes all the difference.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, even to them that BELIEVE ON HIS NAME:
The POWER of GOD causes us to become HIS children. This is not something we can acquire on our own. While we must have faith and stand firm on JESUS and what HE has done so that we can be changed, it is GOD who gives power to become HIS Child.
But first, we must receive and believe ON CHRIST.
ON not IN. Satan believes/knows who Jesus is, but does not put his existence ON JESUS.
ON is to take a stand, to put the full weight of our lives to trust UPON the promises of CHRIST’s sacrifice. WE Stand ON WHO CHRIST IS.
Psalms 145:11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk of your power;
So Let’s talk about the POWER of GOD
David talks to the congregation about the greatness and power of GOD
1 Chronicles 29:10-13
10 Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

Psalms 29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
POWER
Power over Death
Psalms 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Power to Defend
Psalms 59:16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.
Power comes from GOD
Psalms 62:11 God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God.
Power to create
Jeremiah 10:12 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
Power to give
Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.
Paul writes about the WORD of the LORD having power from the Holy Spirit

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
1. POWER OF HIS WORD
POWER of GODS WORD to create FAITH
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
FAITH COMES FROM THE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD
POWER OF HIS WORD – THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO SAVE
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
POWER OF HIS WORD TO PURGE OUR SINS
Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
POWER OF HIS WORD – ALIVE AND POWERFUL, ABLE TO GET TO THE DEPTHS OF OUR SOUL AND SPIRIT
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
POWER OF HIS WORD TO GIVE LIFE AND HOLINESS
2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2. POWER OF THE CROSS
PREACHING OF THE CROSS IS POWER TO SAVE
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
POWER TO RAISE US UP LIKE CHRIST
Ephesians 1:19-20
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
1 Corinthians 6:14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
The Power of the Cross is what GOD did through JESUS upon that cross.
HE took our sins upon Himself, nailing our sin to the cross.
Bleeding as the sacrifice for our sin.
JESUS did not die from being crucified on the cross, the Jews did not kill JESUS. NO ONE COULD KILL HIM.
JESUS G-A-V-E HIS LIFE for us.
HE is the ONE who “gave up the ghost” when HE said “It is done.”
In other words, the cross represents the Love of GOD for all mankind and the Power to save us to live as GOD designed, in HIS Presence forever.
The cross is where it all happened.
But it didn’t end there.
The grave could not keep HIM, and HE ascended to take HIS Heavenly position and authority and calls us to follow after HIM.
3. POWER OF HIS SPIRIT
FILLED WITH JOY, PEACE AND HOPE BY THE POWER OF HIS SPIRIT
Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
RECEIVING THE POWER OF HIS SPIRIT
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
PAULS MESSAGE WAS A DEMONSTRATION OF THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD
1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
EVEN THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE POWER OF GOD
Revelation 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
FINAL THOUGHTS:
IT IS BY THE POWER OF GOD THAT WE ARE HIS CHILDREN. AND THAT IS THE POWER THAT CHANGES US.
HIS POWER COMES TO US THROUGH HIS WORD, HIS SACRIFICE AND HIS PRESENCE WITHIN US.
AND AS HIS CHILD, WE HAVE RECEIVED AN INCREDIBLE INHERITANCE AS A CHILD OF THE ALMIGHTY FATHER.
1 Peter 1:2-5
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
WE DON’T UNDERSTAND IT ALL YET, BUT BEING KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH SAVING FAITH WILL BE UNDERSTOOD WHEN WE SEE JESUS.
THEREFORE,
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
LET US BE STRONG AND GROW IN HIM BY UNDERSTANDING OUR NEED FOR HIS POWER IN OUR LIVES.
Believe in JESUS, Stand on the GOD's WORD that HE took your sin upon HIMSELF on the CROSS, HE bled as our sacrifice, gave up HIS life to death, was buried and rose again, ascending into Heaven. And has given those who believe and stand on HIS WORD, HIS PROMISES by faith...HIS presence by the POWER of HIS SPIRIT within us to seal the deal.
