I. Paul sees the glory of God. (vs.3-9)
A. “The Jesus that men want to see is not the Jesus they need to see.” – G. Campbell Morgan
B. It was too much to handle with un-glorified eyes.
C. It was humbling in a way not known by other means.
D. Christians are called to share in Christ’s glory. (John 17:22)
E. We are currently being transformed into Christ’s glory. (2 Cor 3:18)
F. We will be able to see God’s glory without struggle. (Colossians 3:4)
II. Paul is called from sin to service. (vs. 10-22)
A. “Let’s quit fiddling with religion and do something to bring the world to Christ.” – Billy Sunday
B. Paul considered himself to be the worst of sinners. (I Timothy 1:15)
C. It is funny how our perspective of ourselves changes when we have seen the glory of God.
D. Godly humility leads to fanatical service.
III. Paul learns what it means to serve Jesus. (vs. 23-25)
A. “God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell.” – Charles Spurgeon
B. Seeing God’s glory was convincing to the point of dedicated service.
C. (Dan 11:32 …but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.)
D. The world will hate you because it hates Jesus.
E. (Luke 21:17 You will be hated by all for my name's sake.)
F. Sacrifice and suffering marks service to the Lord.
G. (Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.)
H. Denial of one’s self means setting aside your wants, dreams, and desires.
I. Taking up your cross means actual suffering.
