How many of you know that God has given us an inheritance? Every promise that God has identified in His Word belongs to us — and it belongs to us now.
Physical and emotional healing. It’s ours now.
Our needs being met financially. It’s ours now.
Every prayer answer. It’s ours now.
But, for most of us, our inheritance is waiting for us in a Trust Fund. And this is particularly true when it comes to getting all our prayers answered.
You know how a Trust Fund works. When children (heirs) are young and immature, their parents set aside a portion of their wealth into a Trust Fund for them. The heirs will be able to access the Trust Fund when they reach a predetermined age of maturity set by the parents. At that point, the contents of the Trust Fund are distributed to the heirs over a period of time that is also predetermined by the parents. Sound familiar?
We are heirs of the God who created heaven and earth. Romans 8:17 says we are joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior of our lives, we became a joint heir with him in the kingdom of God We don’t live in Satan’s kingdom anymore. We have been delivered from the power of darkness. We don’t have to live by Satan’s rules unless we choose to do so.
Turn to Colossians 1 and we’re going to read verses 12 and 13.
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.
Everything that Jesus had available to him as a son in the family of God when He was here on earth we now have available to us as sons and daughters in the family of God here on earth. When Jesus was here he accessed his Trust Fund. Blind eyes were opened. The lame walked. Multitudes were fed. The dead were raised. The deaf heard. Answered prayer.
Ladies and gentlemen, opening blind eyes is in our Trust Fund. Healing lame legs is in our Trust Fund. Feeding the multitude is in our Trust Fund. Raising the dead is in our Trust Fund. The deaf hearing is in our Trust Fund. Answered prayer, every single one of them, is in our Trust Fund. Do you believe we have a Trust Fund like this? I do.
From the time he was a child studying the law until He began His public ministry when He was 30 years old, the Word of God says Luke 2:52 says Jesus grew and matured in the knowledge of his Father.
? That’s why Jesus says in John 10:30 “I and my Father are one.”
? That’s why Jesus says in John 14:9 “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.”
? That’s why Jesus says in John 4:34 “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.”
? That’s why Jesus says in John 5:30 “I can of my own self do nothing.”
? That’s why Jesus also says in John 5:30 “I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father that hath sent me”
Jesus knew His Father intimately. In these statements Jesus was saying “If My Father were here Himself, what you see me do is what He would do.” Do you know your Father the way Jesus knees him?
When we ware born again we enter the family of God as spiritual babies and at that very moment our Trust Fund is established. The same Trust Fund our Father gave to Jesus, He has given to us. Sadly, 5, 10, 15, and sometimes 20 years later, many of us are still spiritual babies. Oh, we think we have grown up during this time. But if we compare our thoughts, our desires and our motivations to what we see in Jesus, most are not the same. We really haven’t grown up at all. And yet, we want God to give us access to our Trust Fund simply because we’ve been in the family for a number of years.
God’s Trust Fund doesn’t operate the ways man’s Trust Fund operates.. Access to the Trust Fund set up by our Heavenly Father is not determined by how old we are spiritually. God does not determine when we gain access to our Trust Fund. Now listen to me: each one of us determines when we can access our Trust Fund.
Just because we have been around a long time and seen at family gatherings does not mean we are ready for the Trust Fund our Fathers wants to entrust to us. Christians are good at hanging around and being seen. So let me say this again: we determine when we gain access to our Trust Fund.
Let me say it a different way: our ability to access our Trust Fund is based on our ability to properly steward what is in our Trust Fund. In other words, we must be spiritually mature in order to access it. Would you give a seven year old the keys to a new car? Spiritually, many of us are seven year olds and have been seven year old for a lone time.
Hear what the Lord is telling us: being a member of the family of God is not like being a member of a union. Longevity does not produce “spiritual seniority”.
But many in the Body of Christ think they’re older than they really are. They think they are mature. They think this even though those who see them can barely tell the difference in how they live and how a lost person lives. Do you know what’s even sadder? Many of us will live our entire lives on this side of glory and never touch our Trust Fund.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Hebrews 5:12 says “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not strong meat.”
I want to read this verse from the Amplified Bible. “For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God’s Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food.”
God needs us on solid food ladies and gentlemen. He wants to release our Trust Fund to us. Our pastor needs us on solid food. Our pastor needs us to access our Trust Fund.
So ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to do what needs to be done to access our Trust Fund? If you are, then all you’ll need is one thing — faith. But the question then becomes “How do we gain more faith? How do we increase our faith?”
The more Bible you have living in you — notice I didn’t say how much Bible you have memorized or how much Bible you know. Increasing faith is based on how much Bible is living in you — how much Bible you are truly living by. The more of the Bible that you live by the more faith will grow and manifest in your life.
Develop your faith — grow your faith — by reading and meditating God’s Word.
Develop your faith — grow your faith — by praying in tongues.
Develop your faith — grow your faith — by giving your Heavenly Father your praise and worship.
Develop your faith — grow your faith — by fasting from time to time.
When you do these things the only other thing you’ll need is to walk in love — to walk in love the way Jesus walked in love. And ladies and gentlemen that ability already resides in you! And the more you read and meditate God’s Word, the more you pray in tongues, the more you spend time in praise and worship and the more you fast, the more that love will rise up and manifest in your life .
Now there’s something that I must emphasize. Your Trust Fund is not solely for you. Think about what Jesus did with His Trust Fund. How you are to use your Trust Fund, first and foremost, is based on accomplishing the will of the Father. Let that sink in. This is critical and it also explains why most Christians have not gain access to their Trust Funds.
When Jesus accessed the Trust Fund He accessed it to do the will of His Father. He knew the Trust Fund was not primarily for His own personal use, although it did provide for Him. Jesus knew, now listen to me, that Trust Fund was to flow through Him not stop with Him.
If you are not walking in love, first toward each other, and then towards those who don’t know Jesus, you won’t have the faith you’ll need to access your Trust Fund. You see, the more you love the more “mountain-moving” faith you will have. And If you are producing “mountain-moving” faith you are deep into your Trust Fund! God gave you the ability to walk in this type of love when you got born again.
First John 4: 7 and 8 says “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God; and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
The Amplified Bible in Galatians 5:6 says “For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision counts for anything , but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love [counts for anything].
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
You have to hear how the Amplified Bible renders this verse. “For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on0 Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but hav eternal (everlasting) life.” Wow! Praise God!
Ladies and gentlemen, if you believe that God has divinely connected you to Jim Martin Ministries, then you must access your Trust Fund.
Remember what Jesus told the disciples in Mark 16:18? “Signs will follow them that believe.” The word “follow” in the Greek is parakoloutheo and it means “to follow near.” In other words, when we pray for blind eyes to see they see! When we pray for ears to hear they hear! When we pray for the lame to walk, they not only walk but they run, they dance!
Jesus says these are the signs that will follow those who truly put their absolutely and uncompromising faith in Him and in His Word. In verse 20 it says that when the disciples went out and preached the Word — notice what they were doing — spreading the Gospel that the Lord worked with them.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Bible is telling us that when we stand for the gospel, when we teach the gospel, we are not doing it alone. We’re working hand in hand with Jesus. But that’s not all. Not only does the the Lord work with us, He confirms the words that we speak with signs! Are you seeing this?
We have people in our communities who need for us to access our Trust Fund. We have people in our communities who need to feel the healing power of God’s love. That’s why we are here! We have people in our communities who need to know that God has not abandoned them no matter what they have done in their past. That’s why we are here!
Now listen to me. Hear me. We have people in this congregation who need to feel God’s love and who need to know that their past doesn’t matter to us. Why? The Bible says that “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” If God has removed them, then we have removed them! We’re not here just to have “church” in a building. Coming here is to help us as we conform more and more to the image of Jesus and take our place along side of Him as part of His “Search and Rescue Team”. We search for the lost and bring them into the kingdom. And we rescue the children of the kingdom who have lost their way. That’s why we’re here!
God is waiting for us to grow up so He can release to us everything that’s in our Trust Fund.
Are you willing to do what it takes to gain I access to it?
Are you willing to take off the shackles of pride, unforgiveness and selfishness so that God’s love can grow and pour out through you?
Are you willing to love people unconditionally no matter what they have done or will do to you because you are more concerned about where they will spend eternity than you are about an apology or payback?
When your heart beats with God’s heart, we will reach out and touch our communities with the very heart of God and with everything our Trust Funds have to offer.
Are you willing to say to Jesus “Not my will but your will bhearte done?”
