After the crucifixion, Jesus’ body was placed in a tomb, and His Spirit went to hell. Psalm 88:6 says, “You have cast me into the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. In hell he had a combat with Satan, the Bible says he, "disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it" (Colossians 2:15). He fought Satan in his yard and defeated him there. Satan thought he’d won the victory when Jesus came to hell, what a surprise he got. Hell could not hold him down, the grave could not hold him down!
Jesus became victorious over sin, hell and death. He stripped Satan of his power over death, and walked out of hell with the keys of hell and death. "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death" (Revelation 1:18). After this victory, he ascended on high to heaven, and upon reaching the gates of heaven, he shouted with a voice of victory and said; "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in" (Psalm 24:7). Before opening the gates, the Angels replied and asked; Who is the King of Glory? (Psalm 24:8). Then he said; "The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle" (Psalm 24:8). And the Gates of heaven opened for the triumphant King, Hallelujah.
