1 Cor. 11:23-26
1Co 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts (KJV)
Food is ingested into the body and goes into every cell giving it nourishment.
You spoke to me, and I listened to every word. I belong to you, LORD God Almighty, and so your words filled my heart with joy and happiness. (GNB)
It got on the inside…It was broken down to something I can use, something that can strengthen me on a sub-atomic level.
Sometimes you just can’t have a “go through the motion” worship experience…sometimes baby you got to get that worship and praise down into your soul! You need the power that only the Word of God can provide.
Don’t be cute
Don’t try to act all prim and proper
Don’t put on airs…
You got to praise Him in the beauty of His holiness cause baby you need a BREAKTHROUGHT!!!!
Communion how often?
(Jesus) As often as you do this do it in remembrance of me.
What is the purpose of Communion?
1. Remember the suffering and death of Christ
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Amo 8:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day. (KJV)
2. Self-examination and confession
1Co 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
REPENT!!!
Mat 3:8 Do those things that will show that you have turned from your sins.(GNB)
3. Look forward to His Triumphant Return
Act 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
