WHAT JUDAS MISSED-IV—John 13:33–14:11(John 13:18--17:26)
OR--‘WHILE YOU WERE OUT/AWAY’
Attention:
No opener—Father’s Day Video’s
The events of our entire text(John 13:18--17:26) take place—Shortly after Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem as Her promised Messianic King(FYI—when the pressure was on, this same crowd & others yelled, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”)...
& immediately following the Passover supper, in which Jesus had provided an example of Christian humility for His disciples(including Judas Iscariot) by washing their feet as would a servant...
*Judas missed the entirety of Jesus’ teaching which took place from the time of his prematurely leaving their gathering(13:30) until he arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane, with the detachment of soldiers, chief priests & Pharisees to arrest Jesus!(18:3; Mat. 27:27)—[Roman cohort(speira—the tenth part of a legion=600 soldiers)]

...In doing so, they will never miss out on something vital & life-changing for themselves, their spouses, their children, & others! We have found that Judas Missed at least many vital life lessons because of his unbelieving attitude AND because of his physical absence...
13:33— "Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; & as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you.

A FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING CURVE
Mk. 10:13-16(Lk. 18:15-17)—“Then they brought little children[Lk. 18:15—brefov] to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased & said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, & do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, & blessed them.”

JESUS’ FINAL WORDS.
Godly fathers practice what Judas missed...
The IMPORTANCE Of SEEKING JESUS.
Jer. 29:11-13—“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Rom. 10:13—“For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.””

The IMPORTANCE Of GOD’s TIMING.
Gal. 4:4-7—“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, & if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

The IMPORTANCE Of PERSONAL PATIENCE.
Ps. 130:5-6—“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning-- Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.”
Isa. 30:18—“Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.”
Jn. 16:12-14—“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; & He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine & declare it to you.”
Isa. 40:28-31—“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint & be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run & not be weary, They shall walk & not faint.”

The IMPORTANCE Of JESUS’ PHYSICAL ABSENCE.
Jn. 14:25-27—“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, & bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Jn. 16:5-7—“But now I go away to Him who sent Me, & none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ “But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

The IMPORTANCE Of PREPAREDNESS BASED On PRESENT KNOWLEDGE.
Php. 3:13-16—“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind & reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; & if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”
Lk. 17:5, 6—“And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots & be planted in the sea,’ & it would obey you.”
Heb. 10:35—“Therefore do not cast away your confidence[faith], which has great reward.”
Faith takes us thru the deep waters of ignorance(Isa. 43:1-4).
*Isa. 43:1-4—“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia & Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.”
A humbling & awesome thought for any Child of God to consider is that...while I have an eternal home in heaven surrounded by God’s perfect love, there are many millions who will eternally never know such love...
...Some, because God’s people fail to offer them God’s truth, & some because they simply make a decision not to believe!
