3 BASIC STEPS REQUIRED LIVING THE LIFE OF FAITH!
Before I was considered a soldier in the army, I had to go to Fort Knox to what is called a ‘BASIC BOOT CAMP’. It was there I was trained and learned what was required of a soldier. I believe that a person who comes to Christ and is born again also must learn what is required of the Lord. Here in this sermonette we are shown 3 basic steps from the Prophet Micah that God requires of us.
Micah 6:8 (KJV) He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
I. Step One. To do (live) justly. Justice.
A. To begin we are justified by God’s GRACE.
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
B. Then we are justified by faith in Him. We are saved by His faith.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
1. Injustice is relatively easy to bear; what stings is justice.
II. Step Two. To love MERCY. Mercy is not deserved. It is given freely.
A. Definition of mercy… compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence:
B. James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
C. Where would we be without God’s mercy? .
III. Step Three. Walk humbly with thy God! I love that old Gospel song, ‘And He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own….’
A. James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
B. I believe we can best humble ourselves BY taking up our cross daily, following Jesus and learning of Him, Matt 9:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls..
1. "They that know God will be humble," it has been said, “ and they that know themselves cannot be proud."
2. “Be humble or you'll stumble.” D.L. Moody.
3. It is better to humble ourselves than to have God humble us. Remember what happened to King Nebuchadnezzar when God humbled him.
I WAS SO GLAD TO GET OUT OF BASIC TRAINING IN THE ARMY BUT IN GOD’S ARMY, ALWAYS TRAINING TO BE A GOOD SOLDIER OF JESUS CHRIST.
REMEMBER OUR BASIC TRAINING.
