John 1:6-9
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
John was sent by God to bear witness of His Son Jesus. His Son was the True Light and He was in the world but unfortunately the world did not recognise Jesus as the True Light.
Jesus as the true light was sent to the world by His father and He came to bring us back to the Father but because there was so much darkness in the world so many refused to acknowledge Him as the true light of the world.
We are to believe that God is real through His Son Jesus Christ. God sent His Son as the true light and took us out of darkness according to Colossians 1:13
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. - NKJV
He rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safe into the kingdom of his dear Son - GNT
Therefore, according to this chapter we have been rescued from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His Son whom He loves. In the kingdom of His Son there is no darkness at all only light.
Revelation 21:22-25
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
The Amplified version puts it this way:
I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty [the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all] and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon to give light to it, for the glory (splendor, radiance) of God has illumined it, and the Lamb is its lamp and light. The nations [the redeemed people from the earth] will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring into it their glory. By day (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed [in fear of evil].
Jesus is the true light.
A time would come that there will be a new city ( Jerusalem ) and in this place the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are it's temple. In this wonderful city we would not need the sun or the moon to shine in it. The glory of God and the Lamb - who is Jesus will be the light and there won't be no night there.
can you imagine a place that there would be no night and just the glory of God and the Lamb is it's light?
That is why Jesus came to save us from the kingdom of darkness into His kingdom.
What a glorious time that will be! To be in His presence forever and not see any form of darkness again but Jesus who is the light of the world.
This is why we are to hate anything to do with darkness and Jesus said so in John 3:19.
John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. - NKJV
And the judgement is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. - NLT
The light has come into the world, and people who do evil things are judged guilty because they love the dark more than the light. - CEV
There will be a day of judgement according to John 3:19 where those who love darkness rather than light will be judged. But Jesus came to show us the right path to walk as the light of the world.
He said in John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” - NKJV
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” - NLT
Here Jesus is saying to us that He is the light of the world and whoever ( anybody ) that decides to follow him will never walk in darkness but whoever decides to follow him will have the light of life.
This is the love of Jesus, he really wants us to fellowship with Him as the true light of the world. because of his love he does not want us to be in darkness.
Darkness is to do with Satan who abides in deep darkness. The love of Jesus is real and deep, there is a choose to make we have to believe Him as the true light and remain in his light or we do not believe in him and remain in darkness.
God said to us in Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.
Another translation
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! - NLT
This is God's love towards us that we should choose life so that we can be in His light as we abide in Him. And because we choose life, he says in Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
We are the light of the world and we shine as children of light in this world of darkness according to these scriptures in the WORD.
Romans 13:11-14
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Ephesians 5:8-14
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”
John 12:35
Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.
Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
Jesus said to us in John 9:5
But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.
Jesus is here through His Spirit and He is simply the true light of the world. The light that leads us into the right path.
By faith we are to live as children of light and help those that are in darkness to come into the true light has recorded in Corinthians 4: 3-6. And as we do that the WORD of God will be a light to out path, giving us divine direction so has not to be stumbling as we share the truth of Jesus as the true light.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 records this truth;
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
The WORD of God says to us that we are not of the night nor of darkness because we belong to the kingdom of our Father who is the light that shines in the world and in His kingdom we are the redeemed ones that will shine in the world of darkness.
When God created the earth, the earth was completely empty and there was nothing on the earth and God spoke into the earth in :
Genesis 1 :1-5
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
Immediately God spoke things happened and there was a change in the atmosphere.
As children of light we are to speak as God spoke into any situation in our lives that has come in the form of darkness and because God lives in us, the darkness must bow to the light of God that we live in.
In John 1:5 it's recorded that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
Another translation puts it this way
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. - NLT
The light of God is shinning in us and through us. The darkness that is in this evil world can never overcome our light to his glory.
And as the light shines in our lives we cannot be in light and in darkness at the same time, any form of darkness in our lives comes from Satan who lives in darkness. Let us remain in light by faith in God and His WORD.
When I died and saw Jesus. He was in light and all around Him was light that cannot be compared to this world's light. But when I saw Satan he was in deep darkness which is what represents Satan.
We are to remain in the light of Christ, he is the light of the world, wherever Jesus is there can only be light and there is always Salvation and healing to His glory.
Jesus is the true light of the world and in Him there is no darkness at all.
