Which One Are You?
John 1:10–13 He (Jesus) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. 12Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a humans's will, but born of God.
I. Do we recognize Jesus for who He is?
A. Jesus created this world.
John 1:2–3 He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.
B. Jesus is God.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
C. Jesus is the only way to God.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
II. Some people reject Jesus.
A. They reject what Jesus taught.
Luke 4:28–30 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove Him out of the town, and took Him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw Him down the cliff. But He walked right through the crowd and went on His way.
B. They reject who He is.
Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.
III. Some Receive Jesus.
A. Receiving Jesus is “NOT”:
1. Saying some words
2. Walking down front
B. To Receive Jesus we must submit to who He is.
1. He is God.
2. He became a human to take our place.
3. He never sinned.
4. He died on the cross in our place.
5. He rose again.
C. Receiving Jesus is:
1. Making Him the Lord “boss” of your life.
2. Letting Him make the decisions daily.
3. Living life for Him and not ourselves.
D. Jesus gives us the rights to be God's children.
1. We are adopted by God.
2. Not because of what we have done.
3. But because of what HE has done!
