Genesis 3: 15
Head Start
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.
From the Latin word ‘muse’ we derive our English word ‘think’. If you place the letter ‘a’ before, I find it intriguing that the word becomes ‘not to’. So, the letter ‘a’ before the word ‘muse’ means ‘not to think’. I think that too often we do not think. In fact we spend billions of dollars each year on ‘Amusements’.
Our Precious Holy El Shaddai – The Lord Most Holy – wants us to meditate on His Holy Word. This means that we should chew on and think about what His Word says and how we can apply it to our own lives.
So, today I want us all to ‘think’ a lot. If you are a minister I want your input and if you are not I am temporary assigning you as a leader to help me answer a few problems that have been thrown my way.
I received a phone call that the person informed me as he was flipping through the TV stations that he came upon a professional poker show. The caller informed me that one of the players teaches in our Sunday School. So, how do you handle this situation with this teacher?
In the next situation I received a letter from a church member that a guy was taking a few of our single ladies after our evening services to a night club. What would be you response to this action?
In the third case a man wanted to be part of our worship team. He said he is a pretty good guitarist. However, driving to church I passed a popular night club and this guy is on the marquee with his band. How do you think I should handle this and the other questions with a Scripture backing?
Well, they all challenged me to show them from the bible where it is a sin in what they were doing. In fact they were downright hostile to my even inquiring about these situations.
The answer in this case is that I answered them from 1 Corinthians chapter 8, “ Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him. 4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. 7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse. 9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? 11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.”
So, my answer to them was that were making people stumble by their actions even though what they were doing could not be listed as ‘sin’. Their freedom was hurting others.
Here is another one which I am sure that your church faces, ‘which bible is the correct one to use?’ What would be your thoughts on how to respond to this question? I informed the people that in my opinion all the versions carry the Lord’s truth but personally I like the King James and the New King James. I also said that other versions miss out some vital truths.
Let me give you two examples. Have you ever thought or been asked why is Eve so much the one who made mankind fall. The question brought forth to me was that if you look at chapter 2 you see that our Holy Father God, Adoni Yahweh told Adam that the day he eats of the fruit of the tree of Good and Evil, he shall surely die. You will note that it looks like Eve was not told so that is why she didn’t know exactly what God’s instructions were? Sorry ladies for the bible informs us differently. Look with me at chapter 5 of Genesis and see what it says, “Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.”
Can you see how the King James is the only one to bring out this fantastic point? Before the fall both Adam and Eve were called ‘Adam’. When our Holy Creator spoke to Adam it was to both. The other versions refer to this verse as ‘mankind’. To me it takes away an awesome discovery.
Here is to me another fantastic point that only comes from the King James, look at the Gospel of Luke chapter 5. Remember when our Lord was preaching in Peter’s boat and after He was finished, He instructed Peter to go out fishing. Let’s pick up at verse 1, “And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing [their] nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto [their] partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw [it], he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken.”
Now stop and think. What did our Master and Lord say to Peter, ‘let down your ‘nets’ [plural]. And what were Peter’s words back to our Lord Jesus, ‘And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the ‘net’.
Can you see what is happening here? Our Lord tells Peter that He wants to more than ‘abundantly’ bless Peter and his partners. Peter in effect says to our Lord that he is only going to humor him by going out for a little boat trip and let down one net. Can you imagine what their catch would be if Peter was obedient. He probably would have had enough fish in the one catch that would have put their business in financial easy street.
So, why have I asked these questions to you? Well I do not know about you but I have had some major problems in finding satisfactory answer to the prophecy in Genesis 3 verse 15, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
Are you secure with your understanding of this verse? So, today I believe through the Scripture we will find some awesome discovery of what our Precious Holy Spirit has declared.
Well, for one thing I think it is pretty clear that the ‘seed of the woman’ refers to our Lord Jesus Christ. You see the man has the ‘seed’ and the woman the ‘egg’, so we can see from this verse of reference that the Messiah will be born of a virgin. Do you see and understand this point?
Now the next question to ask is who or what is the ‘seed of the serpent’? We know from reading chapter 3 that our Lord is addressing the Serpent? What is the serpent? Everyone knows that this is Satan. How so? We find the answer in the book of Revelation chapter 12 verse 9 which says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Some of you might be saying that the ‘seed of the serpent is the Antichrist’ since the seed of the woman is our Lord Jesus Christ, then it stands to reason that the opposite must be the ‘Antichrist’
You will note that from our verse in Genesis our Lord Jesus will ‘bruise the serpents seed’s head’ and the seed of the serpent will ‘bruise’ our Lord’s heal. The word ‘bruise’ means ‘to damage by a blow or can also mean ‘tread on’
Taking this thought some have reference the book of Zechariah chapter 11 verses 16 and 17 where it seems the Antichrist will receive damage to his right eye and arm, “For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, [which] shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword [shall be] upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.”
This for me does not satisfy the correct position. It is part of the Antichrist face, the eye that is damaged, and it does not say anything about a ‘bruise’
In addition, when you look at the book of 1 John chapter 2 verse 18 he was talking about a lot of ‘Antichrists’, “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”
From these verses I kind of steer clear of thinking that verse 15 of chapter 3 of the book of Genesis is talking about the Antichrist.
So then who or what is the seed of Satan. I think we find our answer beginning in chapter 6 of Genesis, “And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.”
We have understood that Satan was the serpent in the Garden of Eden. In the book of Revelation we see that he convinced one-third of all the angels to join him in rebellion against El Elyon – The Most High God. Now here is an interesting thing to consider and that is angels are males and they are able to procreate. They are able to take on human forms as the book of Hebrews chapter 13 informs us, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
You will note from what is listed in chapter 6 of Genesis that these fallen angels took wives of all that they chose. This means that they took the wives of men – whoever and whenever they chose. Who was going to stop them? As a result of this un-natural and un-holy action it says that the offspring became giants. Please also take note of the statement, ‘and after that’. These three words mean a lot. For in chapter 6 we are reading about incidents before the flood and we see by the words –and after that – that more angels sinned against their Holy Creator by again mating with women and producing giants. Thus when we read about the Israelites going into the Promised Land they are frightened by the giants.
So, what can we understand by chapter six. There was a movie way back in time called ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ The movie’s climax has Satan having sex with a woman. They weren’t too far off. Can you agree that the seed of the serpent are the mixture of fallen angels and women? Would these abnormal children have spirits? I believe the spirits of these giants are the ‘demons’ we read about throughout the bible. You will note that ‘demons’ are always looking to possess someone or something. Which again, unlike angels who can materialize as us humans.
So, somehow we need to find out in Scripture how the Lord Jesus Christ, the Seed of the woman is going to bruise the head of the seed of the serpent. While the seed of the serpent, a giant, will bruise the heal of our Master and King, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now to undercover this amazing fact let us continue to first move through the book of Genesis. In chapter 14 we note how the area of Jerusalem was always a holy place. We read about this priest and of the Most Holy God and king of Jerusalem interacted with Abraham. After Abraham rescued his nephew from the Amalekites he came back by way of passing Jerusalem.
“And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed [be] Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.”
In Psalm 110 our Holy Maker tells us that He has made our Lord Jesus Christ, “The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”
Now since Abraham knew that the area around Jerusalem was holy we can now understand a little fuller Genesis chapter 22, “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, [here] I [am]. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only [son] Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid [it] upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here [am] I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where [is] the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here [am] I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son] from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind [him] a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said [to] this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”
Have you ever considered why there was a ‘ram’ and not a ‘lamb’ caught in the thicket? Some people say that the ram was once a lamb. I think that is stretching things a little bit too far. We know that Abraham was a prophet so he was telling us that sometime in the future God Himself will be the ‘Lamb’.
Please note the last verse, ‘it shall be seen’. This special sacrifice shall be seen!.
You might be saying to yourselves, ‘where is he going with this?’ Please hang in there I want to bring this amazing fact to you properly.
Now turn to the book of 1 Samuel chapter 17 verse 54 and take note of this often overlooked verse, “And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent.”
You are all familiar with the story of Davit and Goliath [ the giant]. After David killed Goliath he beheaded the giant. Now look at the verse again, where did he take the head of the giant? He took the head to Jerusalem.
I have been to Israel and have visited the site where David took on Goliath. Let me tell you that Jerusalem was not next door. It would take David days to get there. Also, Jerusalem was not David’s hometown nor was it under control by the Israelites. In fact you will have to turn to the book of 2 Samuel chapter 5 to see when David is a grown man and had just been made king to see that the Israelites finally took Jerusalem from the Jebusites.
So why would David take the head of Goliath to Jerusalem? And another thing to consider is, ‘what did he do with the head once he got there?’
Goliath was the ‘Champion’ of all the giants. As the seed of the serpent I believe that David took the head of Goliath and buried it on the highest hill in Israel as a testament of God’s victory.
Now finally turn to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 27 verse 33, “And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,”
You will note that the words do not say that they came to a place that looked like a skull as many teachers comment. It was a place ‘of a skull’.
On the place on top of the skull [head] of the serpent the Lamb of God – the seed of the woman - was crucified with His heals nailed to the cross.
Truly this Victory has been seen by all spiritual and physical witnesses. I close with the verse from Psalm 118 verse 24 where our Great Master beautifully sums this up, “This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Truly O Magnificent Holy God be praised adored and worshiped.
