IN SEVENTY WEEKS-I—Daniel 9:24(1-3, 13-27)
The Pivotal Messiah OR Messiah’s Niche
Attention:
What does it mean to be an Evangelical?
LifeWay Research conducted a study focusing on evangelical 'belief' versus evangelical 'self-identification' Nov. 10-12, 2017.
Evangelical beliefs are defined using the NAE LifeWay Research Evangelical Beliefs Research Definition based on respondent beliefs. Respondents are asked their level of agreement with four separate statements using a four-point, forced-choice scale(strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, strongly disagree). Respondents are categorized as having evangelical beliefs if they strongly agree with all four statements:
The Bible is the highest authority for what I believe.
It is very important for me personally to encourage non-Christians to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Jesus Christ’s death on the cross is the only sacrifice that could remove the penalty of my sin.
Only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone as their Savior receive God’s free gift of eternal salvation.
*Fifteen percent of Americans are evangelicals by belief, according to LifeWay Research. By contrast, 24 percent of Americans self-identify as evangelicals.
As Christians, we are ‘not’ fighting a losing battle, but we ‘are’ fighting an uphill battle, only having limited time & opportunity to share God’s Good News in Christ with our world!
Need:
Our world needs to be prepared with God’s Good News!

Our TIME(:24a)
Explanation/Illustration:(:24a)
:24a—“Seventy weeks are determined For your people & for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision & prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
“Seventy Weeks”(of years)—
Lev. 25:8—“‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; & the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years.”
This describes an overall 490 yr. period of seventy years X(times) seven years—clarified in :25-27. This time period is God’s timetable for the remainder of time for mankind on the earth. “weeks are counted as years, & the years[lunar] had 360 days[with intercalary months added every 3-years].—David Jeremiah in, ‘The Handwriting On The Wall’(DJTHOTW)
God has your/our times in His hands!
?How can this be?...By Messiah only!
“Determined”—Ktx khaw-thak’—Niphal Perfect—1) To divide, determine—1a) (Niphal)--To be determined, be decreed, be settled, be marked out. Strong—a primitive root; properly--To cut off, i.e. figuratively--To decree. Used 1X.
Argumentation:
Lk. 12:4-7—“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, & after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Acts 17:30-31—“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained[Jesus]. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
Jn. 5:19-23—“Then Jesus answered & said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, & shows Him all things that He Himself does; & He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead & gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
Mat. 28:18-20—“And Jesus came & spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven & on earth. Go therefore & make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; & lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
2Pet. 3:7—“But the heavens & the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment & perdition of ungodly men.”
Gal. 4:4-7—“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Our PEOPLE & CITY(:24b)
Explanation:(:24b)
:24c—“Seventy weeks are determined For your people & for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision & prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
‘God’s people’ are intimately tied to the “holy city.”
The “city” is Jerusalem.
The timeframe of 70 weeks of years is built around the desire of God to operate “for” His & Daniel’s(“your”) people. The people as well as the holy city(Jerusalem) are key to the fulfillment of the seventy weeks.
God’s people Israel, are not thrown out with the onset of the Church age. They will be directly reconnected to God’s plan thru the manifestation of Messiah Jesus.
“People”—Me am—1) Nation, people—1a) People, nation, 1b) Persons, members of one's people, compatriots, country-men; 2) Kinsman, kindred. Strong—A people(as a congregated unit); specifically--A tribe(as those of Israel); hence collectively--Troops or attendants; figuratively--A flock.
“Holy”(See below duplicated)—vdq ko’-desh—Noun Masc.—1) Apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness—1a) Apartness, sacredness, holiness—1a1) Of God, 1a2) Of places, 1a3) Of things, 1b) Set-apartness, separateness. Strong—A sacred place or thing; rarely abstract--Sanctity.
“City”—rye `eeyr, OR(in the plural)--re `awr, OR--rye aw-yar'(Jud 10:4)—Noun Masc.—1)Excitement, anguish—a)Of terror; 2)City, town(a place of waking, guarded)—a)City, town. Strong—A city(a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense(even of a mere encampment or post).?From—rwe ‘oowr—a primitive root; To wake(literally or figuratively).
Argumentation/Illustration:
Rom. 9:6-8—“But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.”
Rom. 10:8-11:5—“But what does it[the Scripture] say? “The word is near you, in your mouth & in your heart”(that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus & believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew & Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, & hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.” But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: “I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.” But Isaiah is very bold & says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.” But to Israel he says: “All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient & contrary people.” I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, “LORD, they have killed Your prophets & torn down Your altars, & I alone am left, & they seek my life”? But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.”
Rom. 15:8-11—“Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, & that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written: “For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, And sing to Your name.” And again he says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!” And again: “Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!”
Rev. 21:1-3—“Now I saw a new heaven & a new earth, for the first heaven & the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, & He will dwell with them, & they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them & be their God.”

Our INFRINGEMENT(:24c)
Explanation:(:24c)Transgress/Go beyond
:24c—“Seventy weeks are determined For your people & for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision & prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
“Transgress”(English)=To infringe or go beyond the bounds of(a moral principle or other established standard of behavior). Transgression describes rebellion!
There will be no more ‘crossing the line’ as it were regarding that which God has determined. “Transgression” itself will be eradicated! No more will men willingly step over the sure boundaries which God has set. This describes an “establishment of an entirely new order on earth.”—D. Guzik
Though “transgression” against God has not ceased completely with the Advent of Jesus, His arrival decidedly set up the specific means by/thru which “transgression”(rebellion) can now & will be “finished” in the end time!
?How can this be?...By Messiah only!
“Finish”—alk kaw-law’—Piel(intensive/intentional/repeated/extended) Infinitive—1) To restrict, restrain, withhold, shut up, keep back, refrain, forbid—1a) (Qal)--1a1) To shut up, 1a2) To restrain, 1a3) To withhold; 1c) (Piel)--To finish. Strong—a primitive root; To restrict, by act(hold back or in) or word(prohibit). Used 18X.
“Transgression”—evp peh’-shah—Noun Masc.—1) Transgression, rebellion—1a1) Transgression(against individuals), 1a2) Transgression(nation against nation), 1a3) Transgression(against God)—1a3a) in general, 1a3b) As recognized by sinner, 1a3c) As God deals with it, 1a3d) As God forgives, 1a4) Guilt of transgression, 1a5) Punishment for transgression, 1a6) Offering for transgression. Strong—A revolt(national, moral or religious).?From—evp—To break away(from just authority), i.e. Trespass, apostatize, quarrel.
Argumentation/Illustration:
The Ten Commandments are a statement of the tendency for mankind to Infringe upon God’s desire. Such infringement/“transgression” against God is similarly experienced all man’s relationships!
Ex. 20:1-17—“And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third & fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me & keep My commandments.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor & do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens & the earth, the sea, & all that is in them, & rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day & hallowed it.
Honor your father & your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.”
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

CONCLUSION:
Visualization:
Only 15% of Americans are evangelicals by belief.
Rev. 21:4-8—“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true & faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha & the Omega, the Beginning & the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, & I will be his God & he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, & all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire & brimstone, which is the second death.”
