VIII. MAIN BODY:

Hebrews 13:6 So we take comfort {and} are encouraged {and} confidently {and} boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?

A. The LORD is my Helper. - I can take comfort, be encouraged with confidence and boldness.

"So we take comfort {and} are encouraged {and} confidently {and} boldly say, The Lord is my Helper;"

What does it mean for us to know that the LORD is our Helper?

1. We are comforted.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed {and} enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God's favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted!

We are comforted every time we know we are moving in GOD's wisdom. Every time we know that it's not us, we are comforted, for we know that it's eternal and our comfort came from the GOD of comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement),

2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble {or} distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.

2. We are encouraged.

Romans 1:12 That is, that we may be mutually strengthened {and} encouraged {and} comforted by each other's faith, both yours and mine.

Faith of our brethren gives us encouragement. Every time I see different faces in the church, I am encouraged in the fact that the return of the LORD JESUS is fast approaching.

1 Corinthians 14:31 For in this way you can give testimony [prophesying and thus interpreting the divine will and purpose] one by one, so that all may be instructed and all may be stimulated {and} encouraged;

We are also encouraged in the testimonies that we hear from our brethren when they testify in the church. We are also encouraged whenever we hear instructions from the bible.

3. We have confidence in the LORD.

Philippians 1:14 And [also] most of the brethren have derived fresh confidence in the Lord because of my chains and are much more bold to speak {and} publish fearlessly the Word of God [acting with more freedom and indifference to the consequences].

The LORD JESUS is the Source of our Confidence. Actually the LORD JESUS is our Confidence.

1 Thessalonians 1:8 For not only has the Word concerning {and} from the Lord resounded forth from you unmistakably in Macedonia and Achaia, but everywhere the report has gone forth of your faith in God [of your leaning of your whole personality on Him in complete trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness]. So we [find that we] never need to tell people anything [further about it].

Our confidence is in the LORD'S power, LORD's wisdom and LORD's goodness.

Psalms 25:2 O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, {and} am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame {or} [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.

The world's confidence and trust is in themselves, that's why in this world, there are self-conceited because they are self-conscious. The opposite happens to us, the more we grow in the knowledge of the LORD JESUS, we become less and less self-conscious and become GOD-conscious. That's the secret of real living here on earth.

4. We have boldness.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then fearlessly {and} confidently {and} boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom {and} confidence to enter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood of Jesus,

Ephesians 3:12 In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

We have boldness in the LORD JESUS to do and act righteously because of His blood that keeps on washing and washing these sins away from us. We have boldness to enter the Holy of Hollies (Heaven) to ask and request all that we needed here on earth. Being bold means approaching GOD with freedom and without fear.

So take confidence in the LORD JESUS because the LORD JESUS is our Helper.

In CHRIST's Humility, instead of us being called a helper, He stopped down and became our Helper. He is our Help in time of need and want.

Psalms 124:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Psalms 54:4 Behold, God is my helper {and} ally; the Lord is my upholder {and} is with them who uphold my life.

Psalms 63:7 For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.

B. What can man do to me?

"I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?"

Psalms 56:4 By [the help of] God I will praise His word; on God I lean, rely, {and} confidently put my trust; I will not fear. What can man, who is flesh, do to me?

Matthew 10:28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna).

Luke 12:4 I tell you, My friends, do not dread {and} be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have nothing more that they can do.

Luke 12:5 But I will warn you whom you should fear: fear Him Who, after killing, has power to hurl into hell (Gehenna); yes, I say to you, fear Him!

Fear is one element of worship we don't want to misplace. It is rightful and biblical to fear GOD alone and not men, for we don't worship men but GOD alone. We don't worship other human beings but GOD alone. Place our fear on the Right Object of Fear - the Fear of Isaac - THE LORD JESUS Himself.

Genesis 31:53 The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, and the god [the object of worship] of their father [Terah, an idolator], judge between us. But Jacob swore [only] by [the one true God] the Dread {and} Fear of his father Isaac.

Only fear the LORD GOD and don't fear any men.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are my Helper, I will not be seized with alarm and what can man do to me?
