The reality of death
Scripture- 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 (KJV) So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
• Saul, King of Israel, even considered to be among the prophets.
• He disobeyed God & the result was death.
• Death
• Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
• Death is passed upon all men. From Adam until now.
• Raise a family, try to provide, save up money. We’re not promised tomorrow.
• Some people go through life unsure about many things, one thing to be sure is you will die.
• Death is real
• Hollywood & the world makes dying seem like nothing
• Have you ever witnessed someone fighting for their last breath.
• Death is coming
• Hebrews 9:27 (KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
• Are you ready for judgement.
• Have you made preparations? Not a will, not who’s preaching your funeral or where to be buried.
• Have you made preparations for your soul?
• The Judgement
• Luke 16:22-23 (KJV) And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
• Didn’t know that would be his last day, but it was.
• The family gathered, preacher said a few words.
• But he lifted up his eyes in hell.
• What a shock!
• Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
• Hell
• In hell There are doctors, lawyers, actors, singers, church members, deacons, preachers. All Christ rejectors.
• All died lost.
• There is darkness, weeping & gnashing of teeth. Torments for all eternity.
• What makes hell so bad
• It’s not the fire, not the darkness, it’s the fact that God is nowhere to be found.
• For eternity your Constantly thinking about the time you rejected Christ.
• Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…
• You can’t escape if you reject Christ.
• How to escape
• Romans 5:8 (KJV) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
• Christ died for you so you could have life.
• You don’t have to die lost.
• Dying lost
• Hebrews 10:31 (KJV) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
• Death never entered into the rich man’s mind, he was content. Died and lifted in eyes in hell.
• Saul knew what God commanded, disobeyed & was slew.
• Hell is an awful place to call home.
• Will you come to Christ?
