Lesson: Two Blind Men’s Sight Restored
Matthew 9:27-31
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
Notice, that two blind men identified Jesus as, “Thou Son of David.” This is significant, because David was a king, and Jesus is the King of Glory and the Son of God. These men, who couldn’t see, saw much more than many others in that day.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
This is another instance where the Lord asked these men not to tell anyone what happened to them. He said the same thing to the leper. There are several reasons for the Lord to make this request, but one is made clear in the next verse.
31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
He was becoming famous and the crowds were preventing Him from doing His work. These two men, who had their sight restored to them, couldn’t contain their joy-“they spread His fame.”
Jesus told these men to tell no one about Him, but they told everybody. He tells us to tell everyone about Him but we tell no one. I wonder who is being more disobedient; the two blind men or today's Christians.
