"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, work for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.
Paul mentions in his writings that we will SUFFER for being a believer. Various other NT writers suggest the same thing. The reason is rather simple; Jesus himself stated he would. The encouragement that both Christ and the NT writers gave was twofold.
First, sufferings, regardless of intensity is FOR A MOMENT. Second, we suffer in the light of eternity. In other words, in comparison to eternity, temporal suffering is light!
This truth remains: We all will arrive at eternity one day.
How do we spend eternity with Christ?
1. Believe on the lord Jesus
2. Serve the Lord Jesus.
3. Live sacrificially for the Lord Jesus.
