"Deuteronomy 5:33).Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess".The exhortation ends the same way but stresses that the quality of life they anticipated was possible only as the people obeyed the terms of the covenant (v. 33). Blessing is never automatic but is always conditioned upon compliance with the will of God.To obey the Lord is to keep to the pathway, to walk in such a way as to avoid drifting to either the right or the left. Responding to God’s instruction was the way for them to possess and enjoy the riches of the land promised to them.

Deuteronomy 6:1-3 (KJV)
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Deut 6:1-3. Moses here begins to teach what God “directed him to teach.
Moses was directly commissioned to teach the Israelites so that they would “walk in all the way the Lord [their] God has commanded [them]” (5:33) and that they and their children “may fear the Lord [their] God” (6:2) and “be careful to obey” (6:3). Doing this, they had the assurance that they would experience the riches of the Promised Land. The bounty and fertility of the land is described in a hyperbolic way as abounding with milk and honey (Cf Deut.11:9; 26:9, 15; 27:3; 31:20). The former represents the product of agriculture or human labor and the latter the product of nature—commodities associated with the fulfillment of the covenantal promise made first to Abraham
Job 5:24-27 (KJV)
24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
Psalm 34:11-14 (KJV)
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Psalm 91:14-16 (KJV)
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Proverbs 3:1-2:16
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
Proverbs 9:9-12 (KJV)
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
