John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
VERY BRIEFLY WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD AND THE GUIDIANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS
I WANT TO REASON WITH YOU ON THE THOUGHT
(A ROAD MAP TO HEAVEN)
MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
HAVE YOU EVER TOOK A TRIP AND YOU DID`NT KNOW HOW TO GET TO WHERE YOU WAS GOING
AND ALONG THE WAY TO YOUR DESTINATION YOU GOT LOST
YOU PULL OVER AND ASK SOMEBODY AND YOU FOLLOWED THERE DRIECTIONS AND YOU WIND UP GETTING LOST AGAIN
BUT FINALLY YOU BUY A ROAD MAP
AND YOU FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION ON THE MAP AN YOU FOUND YOUR DESTINATION
AND I NEED TO PAUSE AND TELL YOU
JUST LIKE YOU CAN GET LOST PHYSICALLY
YOU CAN ALSO GET LOST SPIRITUALLY
BUT IN THE TEXT BEFORE US JESUS HELPS EACH OF US GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY THAT LEADS TO HEAVEN
IN THE TEXT BEFORE US
JESUS HAS CONVERSATION WITH HIS DICIPLES CONCERNING HIS DEATH AND DEPARTURE
AN HE GIVES THEM COMFORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE COMING CRISIS THEY WOULD FACE
HE PLEADS WITH THEM TO HAVE THE SAME FAITH IN HIM THEY HAD IN GOD
HE WAS ASSURING THEM THAT HE WAS THERE FORERUNNER
AND THAT HIS DEPARTURE WOULD PREPARE FOR THEM AN ETERNAL DWELLING PLACE WITH THE FATHER
FOR IN VERSE 4 OF THE TEXT
Jesus said to his disciples, “And you know the way where I am going”
But DOUBTING Thomas responded to this statement by saying, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way”
Thomas raised this issue because he was not fully aware of the character of Jesus.
Despite having walked with Jesus for three years,
Thomas still did not know Jesus for who he was.
EVEN THOUGH THOMAS HAD SEEN JESUS TURN WATER INTO WINE
HE HAD SEEN JESUS HEAL THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD
HE HAD SEEN JESUS TELL THE MAN AT THE POOL OF BESTHESDA TO TAKE UP HIS BED AND WALK
AND EVEN AFTER HE HAD WITINESS ALL OF JESUS MIRIACLES
HE STILL DID`NT HAVE A CLUE WHO JESUS REALLY WAS
BUT IN RESPONSE TO THOMAS QUESTION JESUS SHARE WITH THEM THE WORDS OF OUR TEXT
HE SAYS –I AM THE WAY
THE WORD WAY MEANS road or path. It is sometimes rendered “highway.” It also has reference to a course of conduct or a way of thinking.
YOU SEE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
BECAUSE THE 1ST ADAM FAILED US IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN
THE LAST ADAM SAVED US ON A HILL CALLED CALVARY WHEN HE GOT UP THAT 3RD DAY MORNING WITH ALL POWER IN HIS HANDS
HE GAVE US ACCESS TO GOD
AND SINCE JESUS IS THE WAY YOU CAN TRAVEL GOD`S ROAD MAP TO HEAVEN WITHOUT CHARGE
It does not matter about your position, possessions, pleasures, or powers, you can come to Jesus without charge.
The reason this is so is because we have no adequate exchange for what Jesus has to offer.
The path to God is open through Jesus Christ for all sinners, good, bad, and all that are in between.
THAT WHY THE SONG WRITER SAID
There is room at the cross for you,
Though millions have come,
There is still room for one,
There is room at the cross for you.
BUT NOT ONLY IS JESUS IS THE WAY
BUT THE TEXT ALSO REVEALS THAT HE IS THE TRUTH
THE TRUTH SPEAKS OF sincerity and integrity of the character of Jesus.
NOW NOTICE WHERE TRUTH IS LOCATED IN THIS VERSE
It stands between “way” and “life.” WHICH SUGGEST TO US that the path to life is through the truth.
BECAUSE JESUS IS THE embodiment of the truth of God.
BECAUSE AS THE TRUTH Jesus recovers man from his Godless ignorance and error
AND We can only come to know God as we yield ourselves to the will and way of Jesus Christ.
BUT NOT ONLY IS JESUS THE WAY AND THE TRUTH
BUT THE TEXT ALSO REVEALS THAT HE IS THE LIFE
The word “life” (zoe) is a word that suggests life as a principle as God has it and the Son made it known in the world
AND We become partakers of this life through faith in Jesus Christ
Because of our relationship with Jesus, eternal life is the present possession of the BORN AGAIN CHILD OF GOD
All things find their being and continuation in God.
When Jesus said, “I am...the life,” he was suggesting his deity.
OH MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
I STOP BY TO TELL YOU THIS MORNING
Jesus is the path for going
, the principle for knowing,
and the life for permanence.
Jesus did not teach long lessons on the way to God. He said, “I am the way.”
Many people ask what truth is. Jesus shows up and says, “I am the truth.”
There are many ways to define life. But Jesus said, “I am the life.”
YOU SEE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Jesus did not say a lot about temptation.
He met it, struggled with it in the wilderness, conquered, it and left the wilderness in the power of the Spirit.
Jesus did not say much about working a job. He gave dignity to work by working at a carpenter’s bench with his earthly father.
Jesus did not attempt to prove the existence of God. He brought God to the world in his life.
Jesus did not argue that God answers prayer. He prayed and God answered his prayers.
Jesus did not say much about the beauty of family and friends, and the need for human sympathy.
BUT He wept at the grave of his friend Lazarus.
Jesus did not teach long lessons about humility.
At the last supper he girded himself with a towel and washed the feet of the disciples.
Jesus did not merely tell us to turn the other cheek when we are slapped on one.
He did not merely tell us to go the second mile when compelled to go the first.
He did not merely tell us to love our enemies. He taught us to do those things in his person and practices.
OH MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS

He was compelled to go from Gethsemane to the judgment hall.
He went all the way to Calvary.
His coat was taken away at the judgment hall and he gave up his seamless robe at the cross.
The Roman soldiers took away the freedom of his hands and feet by nailing them to the cross. He gave up his life that sinners might be set free.
