Well I have a few reasons: 1. The Church no longer emphasizes the Gospel message (Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus), The message is prosperity, feel good stuff, and political agendas. Jesus said "If I be lifted up I will draw ALL men unto me" , The primary purpose of the church is to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
2. Most Churches are driven by a Pastor's "vision" and not the direction of Jesus Great Commission. The Pastor's vision is usually centered around a fancy building to be filled with tithe paying members.
3. In the Early Church the main emphasis was on preaching the Gospel and helping the poor, most of the time when money was raised it was to help widows and fatherless children (true religion according to James). Today huge revenues are raised to help support the Pastor's lavish lifestyle.
4. Adultery, Fornication, and homosexuality are almost a norm in many churches and preaching against these things makes you look like a old-fashioned preacher or a homophobic person. The church has become cowardly and refuses to call sin a SIN. 5. Church has become CLERGY driven and the laity let it happen! The Lord needs a Body of Believers not a small cadre of PAID professionals.
