Summary: Listen to the voice of God

Jesus is calling (Psalms 42:1-7)

Intro

Isa 65:12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

Text: Psa 42:1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

Psa 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Psa 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

Psa 42:4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.

Psa 42:5 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and

Psa 42:6 my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon--from Mount Mizar.

Psa 42:7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

Jesus is Calling us (Deep is calling to deep )

Jesus is calling us to leave all sin

A group of archaeologists , while digging in the ruins of ancient Babylon , found that every brick

In the ruins had the mark of the king stamped on them. They found one brick that had a dogs paw print covering the stamp of the king, evidently the dog had stepped on the brick before it was dry. We as children of God have His stamp on us, but sometimes like the brick from ancient Babylon marred with the dog's print, we become marred by sin. We want others to see Jesus in us but His image in us becomes marred by sin.

It may be that you are not guilty of gross, open sin but Jesus warns us against the sins of the spirit, the sins of a bad disposition and a wrong attitude. These sins are not always visible to the naked eye, but they are sometimes more harmful than the sins of the flesh. We often recognize the sins of the flesh and repent of them, while we keep these other sins hidden in our lives and let them ruin our spiritual lives and our testimony.
