After the resurrection
I. The Importance of Christ’s Resurrection
A. It’s the basic foundation of the Christian faith it is fundamental
B. Our resurrection is dependent on his resurrection- Paul said
1 Cor 15:14
And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
After the resurrection ( More like Sermon notes)
I. The Importance of Christ’s Resurrection
A. It’s the basic foundation of the Christian faith it is fundamental
B. Our resurrection is dependent on his resurrection- Paul said ours would be in vain
As we come into Easter we must look at the Life and Death of Christ to see the Resurrection
In study of Christology we study Soteriology we the the word Soterious which is greek for Salvation— What is it that makes one saved?????
One Word describes the death of Christ- Atonement
* A. His life sufferings (also known as “active obedience”)*
1. 1. His life did not atone for sin- Hid death is what saves us
1. 2. His life provided proof of His sinless character- Ex 12 3-6 lamb had to be kept for 4 days, He was a lamb without blemish
1. 3. His life prepared Him for His sacrificial death- Heb. 5:8,9, by his sufferings in life
Heb 5:8-10
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

Lewis Sperry list 33 things in Systematic Theology that Cover the accomplishments of Christ death on the cross
3 things to look at
Reconciliation- a change in relationships from enmity to acceptance or to reconcile someone who is at odds with another, Romans 5.10
Rom 5:10-21
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Propitiation- To appease or satisfy the righteous demands of a holy God
* Romans 6:23
* For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
* Isa 53:11
* 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Justification- To declare one who is guilty righteous. There is only 1 way were saved and that’s by faith. It does not mean just as if I had never sinned- that is innocence- It does mean that we were guilty and have been justified by the blood.
* Rom 3:21-26
* 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
*
* 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
*
* 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
*
* 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
*
* 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
*
* 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
So What happened after the Resurrection that pulls all of this together
* Heb 9:24-27
* 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
* 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
* 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
* 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
What Did he take with Him
* His blood
* Not the same as any other lamb
* This blood conquered death and claimed victory
* This blood sets us free from the bondage of sin
The Atonement of Christ done 3 things after the resurrection
Made a way of reconciliation to God
Became a propitiation for our sins
