Speak to Your Mountain
Preparing for the return
Part 1 of a 3 Part Series
Ezek 36:1-12 NKJV, "And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, 'O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord! 2 Thus says the Lord God: "Because the enemy has said of you, 'Aha! The ancient heights have become our possession,'"' 3 therefore prophesy, and say, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Because they made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you are taken up by the lips of talkers and slandered by the people"
4 therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around — 5 therefore thus says the Lord God:"Surely I have spoken in My burning jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave My land to themselves as a possession, with wholehearted joy and spiteful minds, in order to plunder its open country."'
6 "Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations."
7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "I have raised My hand in an oath that surely the nations that are around you shall bear their own shame. 8 But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are about to come. 9 For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.
10 I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. 11 I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.
12 Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, My people Israel; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their inheritance; no more shall you bereave them of children."
Throughout the Word, mountains are mentioned in significant ways.
Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac on the Mountains of Moriah.
Moses received the Law of God on a mountain.
The Prophet Isaiah was in a cave on a mountain when he heard the voice of God.
Caleb was given a mountain as his inheritance.
The Transfiguration was on a mountain
Jesus would retreat to the mountain for R & R.
Here in Ezekiel 36 we see a very powerful word concerning the mountain. The prophet was told to prophecy to the mountain. But this was not just any mountain. This was specifically called the Mountains of Israel.
These were the mountains of Caleb and his descendants. These were the mountains of promise and prosperity. These were the fertile lands of Israel’s orchards and fields. This was the center of their agricultural district; their economic backbone.
Some things had happened to the mountains. You see, the people had backslidden. They had developed a culture of defilement and debauchery.
They had gone so far as to ruin the reputation of Jehovah and he was forced to have them exiled to other lands, to be conquered by other kings and armies. It was a bad time to be an Israelite.
But how many of you know the judgment of God doesn’t last forever? No, I am not talking about the final, eternal judgment, that’s a whole different thing.
I am talking about the judgment of God that’s designed to turn people back to the Lord.
So God tells the prophet to begin prophesying. He told him to prophecy to the mountains and to the cities that lay in rubble, to the agricultural status, to the valley of dry bones.
When God says it’s time to prophecy, then we had better begin speaking as the Lord directs.
Job 22:28 KJV “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”
There are people here who need to begin prophesying.
There are people here to need to be declaring the Word of the Lord
There are people here who need to be remembering God’s prophetic promises, and proclaiming them to the heavens.
You see, when you begin to decree, or proclaim or, pronounce a thing, something begins to happen.
When we begin to decree the message of the Lord, it begins to be established. It sets things in motion. It births things. It brings things forth.
The reason some of you have not received from the Lord is you have not decreed or voiced the Word of the Lord.
Now, this is not the name it and claim it type of whacko stuff. But there is a serious truth in proclaiming or constantly repeating and declaring the promises of God over your life.
If you will begin proclaiming it, God will establish it and even shine his light upon the path.
Not only will God establish it, he will give you the strategy to properly walk it out. He will show you how to maintain it after it comes to pass.
Back to the mountain: God begins giving the Israelites a message. He says, while I was dealing with you, attempting to get you turned around, the neighboring nations, or should I say…. the devil, came in through the back door and began both occupying your homes, cities and lands but he was also defiling your mountains.
The devil got into the middle of Gods business when he wasn’t supposed to.
Have you ever noticed that before? Have you noticed how the devil likes to poke his nose into your business when God is trying to deal with you on something? He wants to try and confuse you or take advantage of you when you are vulnerable?
That’s what was happening here. And God was saying to the devil, “Dude this is a family matter and you don’t belong here. These are internal affairs and you were not invited.”
Ezek 36:4-5 NKJV Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around — 5 therefore thus says the Lord God:"Surely I have spoken in My burning jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave My land to themselves as a possession, with wholehearted joy and spiteful minds, in order to plunder its open country."'
It’s like God was saying, “What do you think you are doing messing up the home front while my people have their noses in the corner, taking a time out?”
And God was saying, “Now this is getting personal. You are not supposed to be doing this.” He is saying that His reputation was on the line, not the Israelis.
He is saying: “Don’t mess with them while I am dealing with them. Just because they are not doing right is no excuse for you to do what you are doing. And, I am their Father so now its personal and it’s my name on the line. I am stepping up and dealing with it personally.”
So Prophet Ezekiel, prophecy to the Mountains of Israel. Tell them….. Ezek 36:6-12 "Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations." 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "I have raised My hand in an oath that surely the nations that are around you shall bear their own shame.
So he prophecy’s that:
1. The mountain will no longer bear shame. You see, God never intended for his people to be shamed by others while he was fixing them. That was the devil’s work, not the Lord’s.
God says, “Don’t worry Mr. Mountain; I raise my hand and proclaim an oath that those nations will have their own shame to deal with. And it will be so intense for them that they will have their hands full and will be too busy dealing with their own problems to stick their noses into places they do not belong.”
2. My people are coming back home and they are going to need food so shoot forth your branches and start bearing fruit in preparation of the return.
3. He tells the mountain, I need your fertile soil. I need to plow some fields and bring provision to people that will be coming back to repopulate you.
The prophecy continues….. Ezek 36:10-12 “I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.
He says, “I will multiply men upon this mountain.”
Men who will:
1. Increase and reproduce
2. The mountain will be inhabited like it was in the good old days.
3. But, it’s going to be better this time than it ever was in the past.
4. God says, “I am going to do all this in such a way that you will know I am God.” And let me tell you when God begins talking like this, there is something very sovereign about it.
I mean get ready!
Get your seat belt on, you are about to shoot up out of your mess.
You are about to get your healing
You are about to get your financial breakthrough
You are about to get that raise
Your marriage is about to get better
Your kids are about to get right with God
God is about to open up that ministry opportunity to you.
God says,… your spiritual inheritance is being released.
Your portion is being dished out.
The promises of God are about to become a manifested reality to someone here tonight.
The dam is about to break and that which has been holding back the blessing of God is being swept downstream.
Someone needs to begin prophesying to your mountain right now.
You can speak it all you want but if God is not in it, honey they ain’t nothing gonna happen. But when God is in it, and you decree it….
There’s no obstacle to big
There’s no barrier to thick
There’s no wall to high
There’s no devil to evil
There’s no bully to mean
There’s nothing gonna stop it when God is in it.
