OUR WHOLE HEART
MK 12 VS 28-31
Mark 12:28-31 (NKJV)
28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"
29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.
30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.
31 And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
*HOW MANY HERE LOVE THE LORD WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART??
EXAMINATION OF THE HEART
WHEN WE GET SAVED WE START OUT WITH THIS KIND OF HEART, BUT AS TIME GOES ON WE TEND TO LET THE ENEMY COME IN AND SOW DIFFERENT THINGS INTO OUR LIVES, WHEN THIS HAPPENS OUR HEART GETS MORE AND MORE FILLED WITH THINGS THAT SHOULDN’T BE THERE!
John 8:30-32 (NKJV)
30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
DO YOU WANT TO WALK IN FREEDOM?
**PICTURE OF THE EMPTY “WHITE HEART”
Isaiah 1:18-20 (NKJV)
18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Ephesians 4:25-32 (NKJV)
25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.
26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
27 nor give place to the devil.
28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
**HERE WE GO, ARE YOU GUILTY OF:
A. LYING- THIS HAS TAKEN A PLACE IN YOUR HEART LEAVING LESS ROOM FOR GOD.
B. ARE YOU GUILTY OF SPEAKING OR LISTENING TO GOSSIP?? BOTH ARE EQUALLY BAD- DO YOU SEND IT DOWN THE CHAIN??
James 3:8-10 (NKJV)
8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
James 1:26 (NKJV)
26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
James 5:9 (NKJV)
9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!
C. ARE YOU HOLDING ON TO ANGER PAST “GOD’S” ALLOTED TIME- THIS ALWAYS TURNS TO BITTERNESS.
Ephesians 4:26 (NKJV)
26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
James 1:19-20 (NKJV)
19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
D. ARE YOU WILLINGLY GIVING ROOM FOR THE ENEMY TO OPERATE:
James 4:17 (NKJV)
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
E. THEFT AND LAZINESS- IF WE NOTICE, GOD HAS LINKED THE TWO TOGETHER, HE HAS BASICALLY SAID THAT IF WE ARE A THIEF THAN WE ARE LAZY, AND IF WE ARE LAZY THAN WE ARE A THIEF:
Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV)
28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
F. BAD LANGUAGE:
Exodus 20:7 (NKJV)
"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Ephesians 5:4 (NKJV)
4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
G. ARE YOU GUILTY OF SEXUAL SIN- THAT IS ANY SIN OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE:
Ephesians 5:3 (NKJV)
3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
Exodus 20:14 (NKJV)
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
1 Corinthians 6:15-16 (NKJV)
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh."
Matthew 5:27-28 (NKJV)
27 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
1 Timothy 1:8-10 (NASB)
8 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully,
9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers
10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,
H. THE SIN OF OMISSION:
James 4:17 (NKJV)
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
I. DO YOU PRAY? I MEAN REALLY TALK AND COMMUNE WITH OUR FATHER?
Luke 11:1-4 (NKJV)
1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
2 So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one."
Luke 18:1 (NKJV)
1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
II. DO YOU STUDY YOUR BIBLE:
2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!
J. DO YOU WORSHIP, OR ARE YOU GUILTY OF JUST COMING TO CHURCH:
Deuteronomy 12:4-9 (NKJV)
4 You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.
5 But you shall seek the place where the LORD your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His dwelling place; and there you shall go.
6 There you shall take your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, your vowed offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.
7 And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all to which you have put your hand, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you.
8 You shall not at all do as we are doing here today--every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes--
9 for as yet you have not come to the rest and the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving you.
a. DO YOU BRING YOUR SACRIFICE OF PRAISE WHEN YOU COME TOGETHER (WE ARE TO DO THIS UNTIL WE “GET HOME”)
Hebrews 13:14-15 (NKJV)
14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.
15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
b. DO YOU TITHE
Malachi 3:8 (NKJV)
8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.
Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV)
9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
c. DO YOU WORSHIP BY GIVING YOUR TALENTS IN SERVICE- GOD IS HONORED BY US DOING THIS, IT MAKES HIM PROUD
MATT 24 VS 14-29 PARABLE OF THE TALENTS
III. DO YOU FELLOWSHIP
Hebrews 10:23-25 (NKJV)
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
**YOU AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE PRIVALEGE OF BEING ABLE TO MEET TOGETHER, LEARN TOGETHER, LAUGH TOGETHER, CRY TOGETHER AND BUILD EACH OTHER UP—IT’S NOT JUST A TIME FOR YOU TO SIT, AND ME TO TALK, IT IS A TIME FOR YOU AND I TO HEAR THE VOICE OF OUR CREATOR AND LEARN TO BECOME MORE LIKE HIM!! DO YOU NOT WANT THAT?? IF YOU DO THEN I SUBMIT TO YOU THAT YOU NOW COME FORWARD AND TAKE THESE PIECES/AREAS OF YOUR HEART THAT THE ENEMY HAS STOLEN, REPENT AND CONFESS AND I PROMISE YOU ON THE AUTHORITY OF GOD’S WORD- HE WILL SET YOU FREE!!
James 5:16 (NKJV)
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
MORE TO COME NEXT WEEK!
