Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Intro:
There are times that we all need a renewal. Rest from the daily grind and a time of rejuvenation. In this life we go through things that effect us in many ways. We work hard at our daily grind and it take a toll on our physical body, mind, and strength. We also deal with thing Spiritually that takes a toll on our spiritual body. We get tired and we need to be renewed.
The word wait in this passage means- tension of enduring, stretched.
The word renew in this passage means to Change or to gain new.
We are literally exchanging our strength for His.
So the tension of enduring takes its toll on us, and we can exchange our strength for His.
The Mind
One of the biggest ways the enemy effects us is in our mind. He gets in there and wreaks havoc.
Romans 12:2
2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Do not form or mold the world’s behavior in accordance with a particular pattern or set of standards, But become new and different, with the implication of becoming superior, tested as genuine, not lacking any moral quality, as you do what The Lord desires.
How do you do this?
Through The Word, and through prayer.
Change Your Focus
Looking to Jesus is the answer.
We look at the wrong things sometimes.
We let thing weigh us down.
Hebrews 12:1&2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
We need to come in and exchange our strength for His.
Then we mount on wings and soar.
Then we come back to earth and run and not get weary.
Then we walk and not faint.
