VIII. MAIN BODY:
2 Samuel 6:20 (Amplified Bible)
Then David returned to bless his household. And [his wife] Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who stripped himself of his kingly robes and uncovered himself in the eyes of his servants’ maids as one of the worthless fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!
2 Samuel 6:20 (New King James Version)
Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!"
A. David meant it for blessing for Michal and his household.
"Then David returned to bless his household. And [his wife] Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet David"
David means "loving" in the Hebrew word. David does all thing motivated by love. He keeps on doing it even if it hurts. He keeps on loving GOD despite his circumstances in life. He loves Michal and David wanted to bless Michal because of his love. You can love without giving, but you can give without loving. He gives his blessings to his wife and family because He loves Michal. Where did David got all of these? From GOD of course.
It reminded me of GOD loving us and giving His only Begotten Son to die for us.
2 Samuel 6:18 (Amplified Bible)
When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name [and presence] of the Lord of hosts,
It is David's habit and his lifestyle that after he got something from GOD he shares it with the people.
Genesis 18:18-19 (Amplified Bible)
Since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him and shall bless themselves by him?
For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.
GOD knows our hearts, that we will be like Him in all His ways, starting with how He loved sinners, and keeps on loving them even if it hurts Himself. He goes to the extreme that He died to save us because of His love. What kept GOD the LORD JESUS CHRIST hanging on the cross? It's His Great Love for us that sustained Him until He finished salvation for us. What LOVE!! What GREAT LOVE!! Are we deserving of this GREAT LOVE? No. We don't deserve it, it's His by His Grace that GOD found reason to love us.
GOD already loved us and blessed us with everything for our enjoyment.
2 Peter 1:3 (Amplified Bible)
For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).
1 Timothy 6:17 (Amplified Bible)
As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be proud and arrogant and contemptuous of others, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches, BUT ON GOD, WHO RICHLY AND CEASELESSLY PROVIDES US WITH EVERYTHING FOR [OUR] ENJOYMENT.
No personal agenda of GOD on us, but ALL LOVE, ALL GRACE FOR US TO ENJOY!!
Joshua 24:15 (Amplified Bible)
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
1 Chronicles 16:43 (Amplified Bible)
Then all the people departed, each man to his house, and David returned home to bless his household.
And as David is after GOD's own heart so the same with us. We are created in GOD'S image and we are in His likeness, and we are, if you are a believer, after GOD'S own heart.
Psalms 30:1 (Amplified Bible)
A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the Temple. [A Psalm] of David. I WILL extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
Psalms 101:2 (Amplified Bible)
I will behave myself wisely and give heed to the blameless way - O when will You come to me? I will walk within my house in integrity and with a blameless heart.
B. But Michal turned the blessing into a curse by mocking king David.
"and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who stripped himself of his kingly robes and uncovered himself in the eyes of his servants’ maids as one of the worthless fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!"
What about Michal? What can we learn from her?
Michal or "rivulet" from Hebrew word, meaning a small brook, doesn't affect anyone, she's just there a decoration in David's life, though I might say, she helped king David escaped from her father's hand Saul, or did she? it was actually GOD of course, but no doubt, Michal loved David but her love for David is only love for the opposite sex, king David is handsome, manly, rich and a king, what else would you want in a man? but it's all love in the human love, but David's love breaks all love territories for it's GOD'S kind of love.
2 Samuel 6:16 (Amplified Bible)
As the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter [David’s wife], looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.
Psalms 69:7-9 (Amplified Bible)
Because for Your sake I have borne taunt and reproach; confusion and shame have covered my face.
I have become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to my mother’s children.
For zeal for Your house has eaten me up, and the reproaches and insults of those who reproach and insult You have fallen upon me.
Mark 3:21 (Amplified Bible)
And when those who belonged to Him (His kinsmen) heard it, they went out to take Him by force, for they kept saying, He is out of His mind (beside Himself, deranged)!
1 Samuel 18:28 (Amplified Bible)
When Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David and that Michal [his] daughter loved him,
1 Samuel 19:11-12 (Amplified Bible)
Saul sent messengers that night to David’s house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.
So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled and escaped.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have loved me with all Your heart and with all Your Grace, and You never stopped loving me.
